I talk about it with a few but it often backfires, makes me feel like a weirdo/liar/that im in denial, feel like they must think im denying the truth.. quite triggering

@Scoggy Yeah. I try to tell myself to not even mention it, because I rarely get a good response, but as soon someone close to me asks "howbare you" I just caaant lie, I feel like it shows in my face immediately. But I did have 2 talks recently where my frienda were amazing. One said "you should try meda or therapy again, youve been suffering for so long, you shouldnt need to", and dismissed the worries about my BF. GREAT response. Another time i mention to a friend that Im worried my BF might be slightly too introverted, sje mentioned how she sometimes feel the same about her man, and she doesnt have ocd. No judgement, just talk. Was so nice. π It is nice to have a few who know, and Try to understand, or atleast admit when they dont. Another friend, unfortunately, has the reaction of asking me "but whats the root of it all?, why do you feel that way?". Triggering as hell :D. But she means well :)

People without OCD will always underestimate or overestimate the gravity of your problems, so I rarely talk about it and never go into details

Its probably the best really. But it can feel so lonely to not be able to vent, but I gues thats why forums like these are amazing

@catagui Yep I'm genuinely getting so emotional over this forum lmao I've never felt so understood. I do wish my real life was more like this though

@rosejane13 Naw, yeah, its rare to feel understood. People without ocd can support but unless they have it they dont know the actual pain , panic and utter confusion that goes along with it. I know theres an ocd organisation in my city that sometimes hosts get-togethers but I feel awkward at the thought of meeting people in real life. It might be because I sometimes feel like a fraud, like I maybe dont have rocd. It also feels quiye depressing to hang out with others in the same situation. Shouldnt think that way though, it would probably be good. Do you have any similar organisation in your city?

@catagui Especially since usually the only aspect of ocd that people know about is compulsive hand-washing... most of it is completely unknown to them. And no I don't have such an organisation in my town, I don't know if I would like that or not, it's true that the anonymity of internet is more reassuring... but it could also help a lot, maybe you could try it one day, if or when you're ready? And I'm pretty sure feeling like a fraud is common for ocd, I get that a lot anyway..

Ugh. Which is I guess why they say to be careful getting non OCD therapists as well
