I’m sorry. Are you in the states? I know some Celebrate Recovery groups are meeting in person. They’re faith-centered 12-step program, but you don’t have to be a Christian to attend. You’ll just have to suffer through some bad pop Christian music before you break up into sharing groups 😂

Oh, sorry about that. Maybe you can start stretching the periods of time between your drinks as a way to kick start at least some progress?

Like if you get the urge, sit with it for 15 minutes before you act on it. And stretch it again, and again.

You can get through this. I use to drink so much trying to self medicate i guess. How long have you been drinking for?

Since I was 19, im 25 now. I'll say I've been drinking 5-7 days a week since HOCD hit trying to self medicate. I cant seem to stop and frankly don't care anymore. I hate my life

@js94 I feel your pain trust me. Im 35. When I was younger self medicating worked but as I got older it made it worse. Anxiety, hangovers. There's got to be another way. Therapy or meds or something else

@js94 Honestly I don't know lol. I feel you, I thought the same thing. But just feeling like crap all the time definitely helped not drink anymore. Plus having kids, cant really be drunk with my little ones so that definitely helped

@Kls323 Congrats on the kids. Thats my dream to have kids and get married but unfortunately I don't think I'll live that long to experience that

@js94 Don't say that! Your still young. You don't know what will happen. You have to get past this big hump. Its hard. You are not alone. There is aaa there are meds you can take for even quitting drinking. There is something you can do. This app has also been so helpful with so many people to talk to.

@Kls323 Im young but I don't have the strength to fight this anymore my friend. Im currently on anafranil, prozac, vraylar, and acomprasate for cravings. My mom just passed away, and my pyschiatrist is dying of cancer. I feel hopeless.

@js94 I'm so sorry about your mom and your therapist. Both of my parents have passed years ago. I thought drinkimg on things like prozac could make you worse. If so maybe that could be a part. Maybe those meds weren't the right ones for you as it doesnt seem to help. There are other therapists out there. Not the same comfort as your current but you will find another. Its not to late.

@js94 I've never been diagnosed. I need to set something up. I think I have a mixture. I just get obsessed over things and sometimes it turns to harm.

AA might have zoom meetings or phone meetings plus opportunities to connect with fellows and get a sponsor to work steps with.... I recommend checking out the website
