You are so right 😩 I didn't have much luck untik now in finding a good therapist. I am from Germany, therapy is covered by public health insurance here, but it is very very hard to find one that has free spots available AND is also specialised in OCD. I called about 20 therapists who wouldn't even meet me because they are full for the next few years, I attended two sessions with two therapists last year, both supposed that I might have OCD but they didn't diagnose me because they couldn't offer me a spot either. One wanted to try ERP with me and put me on her waiting list, but that was over a year ago and I haven't heard anything since 😔 I am also not too sure if I feel comfortable with her, it is really hard to say after only one session if a therapist is the right fit. In the meantime I tried some self-directed ERP and did workbooks which helped me get a lot better. But now, as I am facing a stressful situation (writing my master-thesis and starting a new job right after that), my OCD-thoughts flared up again and are hard to fight... I thought about doing online or private therapy as soon as all of this is over and I am settled into my job.. it is very expensive but otherwise I will save myself the stressful process of finding a free one and will also be more flexible with the sessions and appointments.. and almost all therapists that I found that specialise in OCD are in private practice.. do you pay yourself for your therapy? Thanks for your post, it has given me some motivation and hope to try again even if it is hard!😏
