Bless you, this happened to me, when my harm OCD didnt bother me anymore it swapped to suicidal OCD, I think sometimes it tries to swap to POCD, i hope it doesnt but I get nervous now dropping my wee sister off at school. We can get through it! Each time we squash one theme, the next one will be easier, until finally they are just gone with ease

Bless you as well! My Suicidal OCD switched to Harm Ocd a couple years ago. I think mine is trying to swap to pocd as well, like it’s the weirdest thing. I’m not even attracted to people my age only older people 😩 so I don’t understand why I have this pointless fear of it.

POCD feels harder than harm ocd. But it’s probably just my ocd talking.

@Anonymous I think it’s just the OCD talking, my harm ocd switched back to suicidal ocd for a couple of days before it went back to harm. And honestly the suicidal ocd felt harder which I didn’t understand. OCD is so freaking contradictory. Pocd is scary tho, and I refuse to allow it to bother me. Just bc I read about a character in midnight sun who seemed to have it, doesn’t mean I have it. 😤

@We Will Prevail Suicidal OCD is difficult because you constantly feel your life is in danger and its not like you can just lock to doors to keep whoever the threat is out, the threat is you

@PositivityPowah Literally, I used to sleep with my bedroom lights on for nearly 6 years because I would force myself to stay awake until the point of absolute exhaustion bc I was scared I was going to harm myself.

@We Will Prevail Omg I couldnt be in the dark either!! I always had to have a film on to drown out the thoughts too Im glad I am not alone - I used to feel sooo alone with it! Can I ask how one does exposures for it? Im so scared to try incase I suddenly find myself enjoying the thought

I’m experiencing the same thing, I was harm ocd and now I had a POCD thought and it pretty awful. OCD likes to make you think you’re broken so when you get a handle on one, it’ll shift to the other. It also doesn’t care if you’ve gotten a handle on the other, it thinks you’re unsafe if you aren’t obsessing over something.

I’m sorry you’re going through the same thing I am :( it’s not a fun experience.

@We Will Prevail Like I don’t think any inappropriate thoughts, I’m having fear of future ocd shifts like what if I have a kid and I’m a bad mom and shit. Excuse my language. But ocd is irritating af.

Omg same!! Always had movies on in the background! Well as for exposures, I wouldn’t interact to the thoughts. I let them come and let them give me anxiety. I wouldn’t say “I wouldn’t do that.” I’d just let them do their thing. And let me tell you it did make the OCD way worse for the first week to maybe 2 weeks. But then it’s been easier to ignore them a bit. Sure I catch myself being like “oh. I’m not like that.” But I stop myself. Exposures would be to do the things you avoid. Obviously nothing violent, but I wouldn’t sit with my family for awhile so as an exposure I’d force myself to spend as much time with them as I could. Watch films that used to bother me. Etc.

Ah ok, I would stop trying new things coz I thought they were a ’failsafe’ if thr worst were to happen so i guess i need to do them

@PositivityPowah I’m sorry for the horrible grammar 😂 it’s 4:30 am over here. Honestly my old compulsions were weird, so the main thing that has helped me was ending the compulsions. I’d only wear bright colors cause I was convinced something horrible would happen if I wore black. So to expose myself to my fear I made myself sleep in a black T-shirt. It’s the small things that’ll help the most!

Ocd is so persistent. It is annoying. I can relate to you.
