Just be totally honest and open! If something confuses you ask for clarification. I’m assuming they had you do the assessments beforehand and now you’re going over it? They could also just conduct it there and then if you haven’t. Hope everything works out :)

I haven't had it yet. I had the 15 minute call, and tomorrow is the very first official call.

@Anonymous That’s preferrable actually so you can ask questions I think. When I did it I had time between to do the assessment on my own but I messed up on the compulsion questions due to misunderstanding

@Evelyn4416 Sounds confusing. It seems like 90 minutes of straight talking for a first meeting sounds like an awful lot of time, doesn't it?

@Anonymous It actually goes by fairly quickly, the first 4 sessions are supposed to be 90 min each

@Evelyn4416 Oh, wow. I didn't know the first 4 were 90 minutes. Ill just get everything out during the diagnosis and see the look of damn, he's messed up. Lol

I will. Some of my ocd though is like scary to tell cause the ocd tells me if I tell anyone the ocd thoughts, something bad will happen. It's crazy im very happy to get therapy, but at the same time my ocd is like, about that it would be a shame if I were to ruin this for you.

Yea that sounds like ocd just being a butt it was hard for me the first time telling my ocd thoughts I kept it in most of my life

Were you able to do it easily, or at what point were you able to do it? My ocd tells me something horrible is gonna happen, my worst case scenario is go to jail forever, lose my life in there, etc, and thats where my brain constantly tells me will happen if I tell my therapist. Any advice on what to do lol?

@Anonymous The going to jail theme is real I worry about that all the time it consumes me. But it’s all ocd. Ocd all the time at least for me. Tell your therapist you’re scared. They’ll go at your pace. Do what’s comfortable. I was suffering a lot with my thoughts and wanted a proper diagnosis that’s what gave me the courage to talk to an ocd specialist. I was also honest about how scared I was and she was really accepting and kind

@Clementineislands Okay. Great. So, you think telling her the jail ocd thing is a good idea? My terrible ocd tells me if I tell her, I will go to jail. Its so crazy sometimes

@Anonymous I so want to tell her, but that ocd power is insane sometimes. Being nervous for the first appointment, not knowing what to expect probably doesn't help the anxiety either. Lol

It’s up to you what you are comfortable talking about. At the minimum I suggest just being honest about you’re hesitation and worry about opening up so that you’ll both be on the same page. And no it wasn’t easy for me to open up but when I did, It was easier to get help as I was able to just talk about my ocd and get the help I needdd

Yeah. I think it will be easier when I get started. I'm just really nervous for some reason to actually start. I will probably end up telling her everything since I'm paying for it. Might as well go all in.
