Can you please contact your doctor in the morning to discuss all that? Include your fears and any actual reactions. Your doc wouldn’t prescribe it if she/he/they didn’t think the good outweighed the risk. As someone who both has chronic hives and has had some serious reactions to meds, I can also tell you how easily the mind makes us itchy, and even breaking out in severe hives is a sucky, but totally manageable, situation.

I’ll definitely call tomorrow. I think im just gonna try out more topical options instead of oral because this is really too much for me. I can’t even go to sleep because I’m extremely anxious and keep checking for side effects. And question aboht the hives: can’ they kill you or do any serious damage?

@worryqueen When hives are severe, they can be absolutely horrible to deal with. Sometimes they can blister, rather than just be welts, which could leave a longer lasting mark, though still healing, especially if one doesn’t pick at them. The only time they would be life threatening is not really called hives, but if they were part of an internal reaction or anaphylactic shock. I’ve had my airways swell from allergies, and they were never called “hives”, nor did they look or feel like hives. I think “hives” refers to the skin only; it at least usually does. In sum, they can really, really suck, but the hives themselves aren’t life threatening, nor do they leave permanent damage.

@worryqueen I think that sounds like the right decision for you. I just stressed the call to the doc because some meds aren’t supposed to just be immediately stopped. Also, your doc may have other suggestions of what to try that doesn’t stress you out as badly.

Also, as someone with multiple autoimmune disorders, I was skeptical that a drug could actually cause lupus, and it doesn’t look like it can. What you’re reading about is lupus-like syndromes, which unlike autoimmune diseases, tend to go away when the meds are stopped. I hope I haven’t reassured your OCD. I’m just trying to point out that you could get through the worst parts of your fears in hopes that it might give you more strength in fighting them. Try to relax and get some good sleep. Know I’m here if you just need support. You’ve got this! 💜

Try a natural option. Silver gel , vitamin C . The real versions of wht pharmacies try to mimic the effects of. They seem much safer to me. I dont think youre being completely unreasonable with thinking antibiotics are harmful. But definately talk to your dr
