I would assume that most people disregard their intrusive thoughts so quickly that they really don’t even remember having them, but for those with OCD we stress over a lot of them so we can remember a lot more of them

Yeah I agree they have them but disregard them so fast like you said. I think everyone has these crazy thoughts. Its been estimated that 90% of people have these types of thoughts. The other 10% just don't admit it haha. I 37 and I developed ocd when I was 36. I understand how your feeling. Trauma brought on my ocd and I have family members that have had some form of anxiety. So genetics can play a role. I know it sucks now but trust me there is light at the end if the tunnel.

@Dre83 Thank you..sometimes I just feel so overwhelmed and mentally exhausted it's like I don't know who I am or what I want or feel or know anymore and just want to cry. Even the smallest things can trigger me and send me spiraling and I feel like I'm being robbed of my life because I can't ever fully be in the moment or enjoy things because my mind is always going and analyzing and ruminating or I'll sit for hours on Google or on this app and it's just too much sometimes I just want to be normal. I don't think anyone will ever want to be with someone like me who's so annoying and crazy and constantly needs reassurance and having these thoughts that give me so much anxiety

@a01 Everything you said i have delt with. My whole summer was a hot mess lol. I was diagnosed in early June with symptoms beginning in May. I didn't know what was going on I was ready to commit my self to the psych ward. But I can testify that it does get better. It took me 5 months too but im here. Your amygdala and hippocampus are over reacting. It will be ok. Get you a good therapist that knows erp therapy. Praying for nothing but recovery and your brain coming back into its normal state in which it was designed.

@Dre83 I haven't been diagnosed with ocd but I do have GAD and have been through 3 therapists already it's getting expensive and draining. So sometimes I wonder if I even have ocd or not. But thank you for your encouragement I appreciate it. And I'm glad you're doing better. Also, I don't have discord but thanks anyway I guess I'll just talk on here

I was diagnosed with OCD at 31, but have realized looking back on my life, that it is something that has been with me since I was about 9yo, which is the same year my dad passed away. I think with the right genetic component and environment that trauma can absolutely contribute to the development of OCD.

Yeah I understand. Sometimes you can do like an interview phone call with therapist to ask them their experience with erp therapy and ocd. Google questions to ask when looking for a therapist for erp therapy. https://iocdf.org/ocd-finding-help/find-help/ you can use this link to help you find some resources as well.
