I have been having a good experience with the Ssri medication. The side effects can differ from person to person. Your anxiety and your ocd might be a bit elevated for the first few days. The side effects that I had was increase in anxiety and ocd, dry mouth, feeling nauseous, loss of appetite, sweaty hands. When you start a new ssri for the first time you will get a brochure that will tell you about the side effects that could happen. It can take 4-6 weeks for you to feel the full effects of the drug. Sometimes it can take earlier for you to feel the full effects for the drug. It differs between everyone .It took me five weeks. My anxiety went away completely, one of my compulsions went away completely and I have also had a reduction in my compulsions. You still might have a few compulsions. I have been on the meds for almost 4 months. The meds have helped me out so much compared to what I was before I took the meds.

I’m on 20mg Prozac and I’ve been on it for 4 weeks now. I had really bad energy crashes, headaches and nausea here and there and I did have a little worse anxiety at the beginning But now my anxiety is way better and those physical side symptoms are less frequent. I also eat a lot less and feel less hungry but tbh my mood is starting to regulate and my ocd is feeling a little less terrible so I’m happy with the results! It’s different for everyone though!

I take Zoloft and have been now for about 2 years. I had side effects for approx 3-6 weeks, I sort of had different ones at different points. This was tiredness, vivid dreams, lightheaded and at times more anxious than normal, however I was given diazepam for when this anxiety was particularly difficult or if it kept me awake. It was honestly the best thing I ever did, it helped me manage the anxiety I felt during therapy and I’m now a different person to who I was. While a lot of this was the work I put in I felt the Zoloft played a part in making me calm and rational enough to carry on with therapy. Hope that helps!

Hey friends, I hope you all are well. I just wanted to check in and ask people's experiences about being on medication. I have had OCD pretty much my whole life, just got recently diagnosed 4 months ago and my therapist recommended that I get on meds for it so I have a psychiatrist appointment set up. I'm a little apprehensive about getting on them, but I've realized that I do have some sort of chemical imbalance in my brain that plays a part in my OCD and anxiety. I would love to hear anyones experiences or words of encouragement. Thank you, I hope you all are well.

I’m starting NOCD. I had several years of cbt as a child (well over 20 years ago) and I see a trauma therapist. But now I’ll be seeking further help for OCD and just really scared. CBT wasn’t helpful for me. How has ERP been helpful for you? Do you feel like you’ll finally get your life back? I’m consumed by my obsessions 😢 Would love others feedback if ERP helped you ❤️

I just got diagnosed with ocd and she suggested I think about taking lexapro for it. Has anybody tried that and does it help at all?
