is it common for OCD to just run in circles all day? I think I have many subtypes so I could go from harm ocd to existentialism ocd within minutes, and it doesn’t really stop. I try to meet it with “maybe, yes that could happen” but it’s literally alllll day.

It can certainly happen, even though most people gravitate towards one theme. Ruminating about one theme can lead to another, etc. along with intrusive thoughts that change the topic. Try responding to that like you replied, but also some mindfulness to let go as well, and truly believing the uncertainty you tell your mind.

@JustRob sorry i’m late to this! okay thank you! i feel like rumination is my biggest struggle. i could ruminate about anything all day everyday. thanks for your response! ♥️

The tapes seem like a really good exposure, and if your anxiety slowly decreases everytime and you become bored, keep in doing it! I don’t know what works best for you, if ya feel like potiental weapon exposure could help you, go for it!

@JustRob do you know if people with OCD, when they’re outside of their triggers, can have clarity about their situations? I feel like when I’m in my trigger I don’t know, but when I’m outside of them I feel so much more calm and sane and can say “no I don’t want to hurt anyone. No I’m not gay. I want to be with my partner.” ? Just wondered.

Yea heck absolutely! This would happen to me before recovery- since your brain isn’t going through any responses, you know yourself better ☺️

thank you for this! relationship ocd?

Relationship OCD is when you have a fear that your relationship is damaged- you don’t love them, you’re unable to love, it won’t work on- and compulsions like ruminating, reassuring, and compulsive googling.

Hey so I still mentally compulse but I’m scared just because I don’t have as much anxiety as I had before it means I’m gonna do something bad. I also feel like I’m going crazy and I hate this so much. Is this all normal for ocd?

Hello ✨ yes, it’s totally normal- anxiety can decrease due to mental stress, ERP, and many other factors. SO MANY people have this issue! Remember anxiety is more bodily- racing mind and heart, where fear is mental- it looks like you still have fear sincd your scared!

@JustRob Yep! I have fear that I’m gonna do bad things because I have no anxiety, I’m also in fear that I’m going crazy too because all I think is “no no no I don’t wanna hurt anyone” and etc.

I have hard ocd that revolves arround suicide, is it possible for OCD to give you ‘intrusive feelings’ so maybe It tries to make me feel sad to scare me into thinking I am depressed?

Suicidal OCD must suck, I have utmost respect for you. Intrusive, intense feelings are common, when you blow things out of proportion, do maybe it’s your OCD grabbing onto that and making it worse? OCD can lead into depression statistically as well, so maybe that’s how the feelings developed?

@JustRob And i don’t mean you have depression with the feelings, I meant that you could feel sad which could lead to OCD blowing it up with thinking you’re depressed, which causes the intrusive thoughts?

@JustRob Likely, its not so much feeling down more confused as to how I feel then lost - probably OCD being likr hah thats depression be afraid. I have massive fears of depression and bipolar, and just anything that has higher suicide rates, it really sucks

Hi, I want to ask if ocd can cause bellyache or headache. I am constantly stressed thanks to ocd.
- Date posted

Yes, absolutely! Mental stress can provide itself in many ways- that included.

i’m confused about it and i think it and my hocd have tied into some of my failed relationships
- Date posted

That’s totally possible- HOCD can go into ROCD, because HOCD can be started out of the fear that straight relationships don’t work, which could lead into ROCD- practice ERP darling! ✨

Very much agree. My specialist and a NUMBER of people have said HOCD and ROCD go hand in hand a TON of the time because they relate so closely.

Hi I’ve had suicidal OCD over a year. I’ve been doing ERP for it since March and while it’s kinda less intense it’s still there. How can I finally kick this theme to the curb?

I admire the dedication, Evelyn! Have you been doing repeated exposures, like taking allergy meds and picking up knives? Also, try not to have fear. Try not to care about the outcome, truly accept the possibility. Tell OCD you don’t care :))

@JustRob I have been doing the repeated exposures but not so much lately with potential “weapons” like the knife or pills, mostly I’ll listen to a self recording I made speaking out my fears, since part of it is I’m afraid I’ll become depressed and thus suicidal, afraid that I’ll experience so much mental/emotional/physical pain that it’ll force me to suicide, that I’ll become bored and never stimulated enough and it’ll cause me to become suicidal, and literally just doing it on impulse with no real reason - so I have all of that spoken into my recording and listen to it without doing compulsions, but I guess I should pick up the other exposures as well ?

I have HOCD compulsion everytime i hear or see the word gay or bisexual, i feel like it's related to me when i know I'm straight, my brains tell me that because i have no compulsion that actually turned me gay

if you’re having sexual orientation or sexually intrusive OCD, the best thing for you to do is to expose yourself to the idea that it could be true. you have to stop fighting the thoughts and you have to become comfortable with the idea that “yeah, maybe that could be true. maybe i do want to etc etc.” ERP is a great therapy option for this!
