It's so hard but try to listen to worship music and really try to listen to the lyrics. try writing your prayers down and cling on to Jesus' promises. What is hurting your faith?. Reach out to a Christian friend ask 3 People to pray for you.

It sounds like OCD is the problem. I don’t know that a Christian friend would understand the issue. Going to a mental health professional is probably a better option.

@Rob21k Of course but they can still ask them to pray for them.

@Bex. Of course. I meant I wouldn’t go to them about the doubts because they won’t understand the underlying issue like a therapist will. If anything, they may provide reassurance.

Science and faith can go together in fact Christians were the first people to come up with the idea of the big bang.

It is okay to doubt. Realize that doubt is part of faith. You don’t have to figure it all out today. Maybe your doubts are true to you, maybe not. You don’t have to know that today.

@ocdm.7 I did. I don’t struggle much with that theme anymore. Not to say it couldn’t come back. But at the moment, I do not struggle with that.

@Rob21k what exactly bothered you if you don’t mind sharing? i have it rn and it’s bad

@ocdm.7 I had a very real fear of hell. I grew up in a very conservative religious household where hell was a very real thing. As I grew older I became less religious. One day I was triggered by something my dad said to me and I was afraid my sins would send me to hell even though I did not feel bad about them or want to feel bad about them. I felt like I lost who I was.

@Rob21k that’s what mine is. extreme fear of sinning and hell. do you have any advice?

@ocdm.7 I spent a year in a lot of therapy. I think at the beginning I was going twice a week. Or at least was going weekly. It was more CBT than ERP, which maybe wasn’t as helpful but we mostly focused on letting myself choose peace. I would put up reminders to “choose peace” around my office and car. There was a heavy focus on limiting reassurance seeking from people and the internet. I was also deconstructing my faith through all of that. No one has to deconstruct their faith. It was just how it was for me. Eventually it faded away. It has come back before with a slightly diffeeent religious theme but I don’t deal with it much now. It is not easy for me to be at an Easter service though.

@ocdm.7 Oh I’m doing fine with that theme now. You will get there. God made you (if you believe in God). God knows who you are. Just choose peace and give everything time.

@Rob21k yes i do believe in God. i know just hard to deal with for now!

@ocdm.7 The fact that your terrified of going to hell just proves that you are a believer and have remorse. If you were going to hell you wouldn’t have that worry.

@Anonymous And later somethings gonna happen like it happened to me your gonna start worrying because your not worrying anymore and that’s perfectly fine. There’s gonna be moments where your not gonna worry and those are good things.
