What has your experience been? I have not been diagnosed but I'm pretty sure I have experienced religious OCD as well as other themes at times

@anyonymous extreme fear of sinning personally. hbu?

@ocdm.7 Yeah pretty much. When I was younger I got stuck on the mark of the beast when I learned about it. I couldn't get it off my mind and was terrified I would accidentally get it or something weird. Now it has changed more into fear of wanting to sin or making a terrible mistake. I get really anxious when I watch TV especially. Whenever there is someone doing things that are sinful it makes me worried i will think its not that bad and do it too. Stuff like that

@anyonymous I have trouble watching tv too. Whenever they are doing something or say something that I think could be offensive, I start wondering if I'm sinning by continuing to watch it.

@anyonymous i get anxious about listening to music too.

@ocdm.7 Me too :( I have gotten really anxious lately about TV and music even while watching or listening to tame music or watching really clean TV shows. Facebook is a BIG trigger for me too especially bc my cousin is doing some questionable things (at least to me they are) and I always start having weird thoughts when I see her post. It makes me think I want to do the things she is doing or become bad or go against God and it makes me so anxious :(

@anyonymous i definitely get that. do you have an idea of where the ocd came from?
- Date posted

@ocdm.7 I don't know! I remember even doing things at a really young age that could have been ocd. Apparently I even pulled my hair out as a baby so maybe I was born with it? Idk if that's even possible tbh

Pray that God grant you the strength to think only what is pleasing to Him... believe it when you’re praying!

You will still struggle but it will be so much easier to cope and have less thoughts

I lean on God when I'm struggling. Without Jesus I honestly don't know if I could handle it ❤

@anyonymous I'm still struggling...I'm going to be honest with you. This intrusive thought or words have been with me for years. Sometimes I can distract myself just enough to ignore it for a while, but it always comes back.

@Vannafaith Yeah I understand that. It's so hard but I keep on trying and that's what counts most I think!

Religion ocd is the worst

did you beat it?

Yes. All OCD is the worst but I feel religious OCD affects every part of my life

@anyonymous It affects every part of my life too. I'm constantly asking forgiveness everytime I do or think something which is all the time. Intrusive thoughts make it harder. Also when I pray I feel that it has to be done perfectly as well.

@M H Yes, I definately understand that. I have a lot of fear around sin and I often am praying throughout my day to try to be forgiven for the thoughts

@anyonymous I hate intrusive thoughts because of course they are unpleasant things and I feel like they are going to come true unless i ask forgiveness and pray it doesn't happen. Then i try telling myself that God is understanding and i do not command him, so just because i think something it doesn't mean that God is going to do it.

@M H Yeah that's something I have been learning too. I would have a thought that I didn't care if God hurt my family or something and I didn't mean that! I would freak out that he would but I realized Gods actions aren't based on my intrusive thoughts

I havent beat it yet. I'm still in therapy. I just think it's the worst of all my ocds. I've gotten a little better at it tho.

I’m a Christian with religious ocd. I have a particular obsession that I will invite demonic activity into my lie and home. The only thing I found to beat it was to tell other mature/professional Christians about the obsessions and hear feedback that my fears were my mind playing tricks on me and not based in reality. I heard it from enough people that it was my disorder that it became safe to believe.

That must be hard! I have had obsessions like that too Especially and its so scary but I tried to lean on God and know it was my mind
