10000000% I have intrusive thoughts and was terrified for a while I had schizophrenia. So I would google symptoms and do self checks lol. If you're worried that you have it, chances are you don't. Schizophrenics don't realize anything is really wrong with them. But, alas I'm not a doctor. I just wanted to comment and say, I got you - and you're not alone!

I think there are thousands of us with this extreme fear of losing our minds/becoming schizophrenic.. I’ve been having this kind of obsessive thoghts for 6 years now. Nowadays I’m slowly getting better with prozac. You’re definetely not alone in this!

@Ihateocd83 I’ve been taking it for almost 3 months now. Started at 10mg and I’ve slowly increased my dosage up to 40mg. I’ve been at 40mg for a month now, but perhaps I will have to go up to 60mg

One of my core fears is going crazy/losing control especially losing control of my mind.

I have this exact same theme hun. It’s hard but I’m pushing through it with ERP. I know EXACTLY what you mean when you say the panic attacks make the schizophrenia fear even worse because of how terrifying and derealized you feel. I was able to get this fear maybe down to a 4/10, when it used to be like a 100000/10. I hope you find a way to work through this. It’s one of my least favorite ones.

I never see anyone with this fear either so I feel very alone in it. But we are in this together !

@NOCD Advocate - Charlee Hi Charlee, I’m currently looking for some ERP for this. What helped you?

@IllBeAliveNextYear Sometimes the ERP for this theme can be as simple as just sitting with the thoughts and allowing them to exist while you just go about your day. Some other ERP I did for this was do scripts about “maybe I am crazy.. maybe it is schizophrenia” and allow myself to sit in the fear and then just try to resume normal life. Or watch schizophrenia simulators and allow myself to feel scared and anxious and then refocus. The most important thing with this theme is not responding to physical symptoms, anxiety or panic attacks, or responding to the thoughts of “I’m crazy bc I thought …” or “I must be b crazy bc I thought I saw this..” etc.. you know? Just practicing mindfulness is really important, and not allowing these scary thoughts to sway you from anything that you’re doing. Imagine it like just background noise, your focus is in the present in front of you, not in your mind. Allowing the sensations to exist without responding to them will be key. If you need anything message me on Instagram! @charleejadeg

@Kingston4 I had been taking flouxetine for 16 years only 20mg. Didnt think i needed it anymore so came of it for 3 months and i think it was a combination of stress and issues with my gf. And things have got so much worse. So like i say back on it for 3 months still depressed and having intrusive thoughts etc

@Ihateocd83 I’m taking 20 mg. Tell your doctor it’s not helping and see what they suggest. I started out taking Luvox and it made my anxiety worse, so I switched to Prozac. Luvox works great for my brother though. Everybody is just different.

what dosage are you on mate ?

I think it takes longer than 3 weeks to notice the full effects of a certain dosage. Some people even say that you should stay on a certain dose between 8 and 12 weeks to see if that dose is working for you. I know it’s exhausting sometimes but we are in this together 💪🏻💪🏻
