It’s going to look different everyone. But I would always suggest working with an OCD therapist if at all possible because it is hard to do this stuff on your own. (And CBT therapists without OCD training may be well-meaning but they can inadvertently do harm to the treatment process.)

I already looking it but very difficult here on my location. I must pay every week for treatment. But can't find erp therapyst. My place is so difficult. I have no choice instead do by my own. From your personal experience or your own analysis, what recovery is after you or we completed all the session. I mean our live after all session has ended. I know it different for everyone. But it better if get some understanding about it. Maybe you can give me some information. Thank you ^_^

@Sandy6 The truth is there is no true ending. You want to keep doing exposures even after you’re done so in a way, it doesn’t matter if you’re done or not.

@M So recovery may can take for the rest of our live right? I hear teraphyst said fitness is healthy and recovery is healthy. And take time more. Also, we can't stop being lazy, but we can develop strength to doing something when we feel lazy. On some case, exposure not all by means happen in purpose. Oftenly we have obsession without doing intentionally. For example if person afraid of doorknob, he can doing exposure with theraphyst in session by touching the doorknob. But after without theraphyst, when he walk to door (not intentionally doing exposure, but exposure by itself because he want to go in toilet) then he resist the compulsion and touch doorknob anyway. For me is, i have intrunsive scrupulosity morality thought, then i resist the compulsion. I develop attitude or strength, even having anxiety or guilt. I doing it over and over until become less and less. And i keep doing what my purpose in life. Before this, it can take 10+ hours a day i doing compulsion, but now it less than 1 hour. Then i keep doing it alone. It is right to called that i succeed for manage it? I'm wondering, are all the session with teraphyst mean we exercising and get teaching to resist compulsion and manage ocd by himself after sessions ended and of course reduce of all symptoms even not 100% after finished all session. Because working with theraphyst take months but we doing activity for everyday for the rest of our live. :) Glad to discuss that.

With help from psychoeducation, support group, psychologist and psychiatrist. And of course, with ERP. Seemingly i'm on the end of the tunnel now. That's why asked what recovery look alike. I want to back on my life again and doing my purpose to the world <3

I wonder what recovery looks like too. I guess I have this unrealistic dream of ocd not occurring anymore because I compare it to when I have physical ailments. Like high cholesterol, I take medicine and watch I eat, go to doctor to get cholesterol checked every 6 months and its good. Guess I should compare mental health to physical health.

I think some physical illness are can cured for example influenza then it go away. Or like diabetes which people need to manage. Or high cholesterol that need to be checked at some period. How about cancer? How about covid-19? There so many different. When it come to comparison about recovery. What i was know is ocd are managed which mean recovery is lifestyle. To do healthy things for build mental health. But i also want to know from your perspective what manage ocd really means from your understanding? I think we need some proper explanation for this from expert or person who already cured from it. Not all information are easy to access about ocd via internet. Working with teraphyst specifically with ocd really great, but for some of us, might be can't reach out or get better treatment. But our hard work to get better should be appraise by us. Because this journey are not easy. 👍🏻

@Sandy6 Yeah my perspective of recovery was meaning not having my harm instrusive thoughts anymore or at least thats what I wanted to happen. My perspective is changing to see that, that might no possible. To me its now something we manage just like with working out. We don't get to what we consider peak condition and then stop no we continue to work out and I think its the same with mental health. I do believe it also includes a spiritual aspect and that there is a Holy God who can and does help us cause I've witnessed it and experienced it. I may not understand why He is allowing this or why He hasn't taken this from me but it has drawn me closer to Him and that might be part of His purpose.

@Dre83 I think you need to react less and less on your harm thought. It just thought and resist all compulsion as possible. Thats work on me and most people with ocd. The problem is not the thought, but our reaction on it. When we less feeding those obsession, they become less power to us. That we become more habituate. But it takes time. Yes, do it over and over also keep pushing. Mental health goal can almost same as fitness goal. We need doing it consistently as our lifestyle. God give us this obsession, not because we are bad person. But we as human can experience so many stuff in our head. I understand how it feel and it more easy to said. I've been there. But until you resist the compulsion, do the exposure, go to teraphyst, and believe me ERP works. Its better you try it. Good job ✊🏼 believe me theres hope. I just make much progress and you can do it too. 💪 The key is ERP. Do it properly. Well specialist will ocd can help you ❤️
