I managed to stop a mental compulsion for the first time last night and sat with the anxiety before moving on. I also noticed that my intrusive thoughts were less frequent and I’ve overall been feeling a little bit better :) it’s been six months of constant anxiety and even though the relief comes and goes, the fact that it’s even showing up makes me incredibly happy.

I was able to enjoy most of the holiday out of town and not let ocd ruin it.

Glad to hear you're doing better after your injury! Tomorrow marks one month without acting on my scariest compulsion, so I'll be celebrating that success for sure!

I’ve been overly transfixed on doing the “right” exposures I can handle and it’s let other intrusive thoughts bombard me, so my goal is to take them as they come. I think I have to just let myself BE exposed before I can go back to setting out to do exposures.

A good way to deal with this is settle on one exposure to do for a few days or a week. And to relegate doing it to a certain time that day. The rest of the time you just focus on dismissing the thoughts.

@NOCD Advocate - Carl Cornett I’ll give that a shot, thanks!

Last night was my first night panic attack free in around a month:) slow progress. I’ve been challenging myself more to deal with my dp/dr rather than hide from it, and I’m doing way less compulsions.
