I’d definitely go see a therapist or call NOCD to set up a teletherapy appt.

@cleoeastwood It sounds like it is affecting your life to a moderate degree and while you could probably “get by” like this for awhile, it would be best to get help and not only reduce your current symptoms, but also prepare you to deal with it for the future. Is the doctor your mom booked an ocd specialist?

@cleoeastwood There’s no shame in telling her that you need to see a specialist for this. I would do some research on ocd and show your mom some of those resources, so she understands that someone who specializes in ocd treatment is really going to be the only one who can help you long term.

I am so so sorry that you deal with that! I unplug everything, worry about making my handwriting perfect, and I have a thing with odd numbers. But I’m MUCH better about those things now, so there is HOPE! I know right, why can’t they talk about OCD, and other things more! I have depression, but to be honest they never talk about it accurately. People think OCD is an adjective, it’s SO ANNOYING! It’s not only about being clean, it’s so much more than that! You absolutely should see someone about this, this is pretty classic OCD stuff that I’ve struggled with for my whole life. Also don’t worry, you can’t pass those habits into someone else. They may do certain things, but OCD is genetic. Good luck, I have faith that you can get better. Maybe talk to someone you trust, who you know wouldn’t judge you even if they don’t understand OCD. 💗💕
