you’re in no way a hopeless case! so many therapists are unqualified to help with ocd - i’ve gone through so many who haven’t got a clue about it/some that even made it worse by saying the thoughts were true!!(imagine omg). you need to find one who’s specialised in it as it’s a v complex anxiety disorder to treat.

It was best that the therapist left. ( I know it sounds messed up but hear me out) there are therapist who just try to help but don’t actually help you at all with what you need. They are basically unqualified to help you. He might have wanted you to find a therapist that is better fit than him for you.

Last I checked BetterHelp doesn’t have ocd specialists... so your therapist is correct and doing the right thing in telling you this. You need an ocd specialist for proper treatment.

Well do you know the phrase “it’s not, you it’s me,” that’s basically what the therapist said. I know I’m making light of the situation but I’m trying to get you to understand that you are not hopeless. He just wasn’t qualified to handle your OCD. That’s on him, not you. Therapists are human too and not all of them have the right answers. Finding the right therapist is like dating you have to meet a bunch before finding someone you really like. I’d try to find another therapist on the site and directly ask if they know how to treat your OCD. If not, I’m not sure what country you are at but I think you could still get the free call from this site and contact one of the specialists here and ask them maybe they can find a way to assist you

Irrational ocd thoughts! Hah! I dont mean to make light of your situation, but its OCD: what did he expect!? Its so irrational. You are not a hopeless cause but your therapist was just not competent enough!

Sometimes you just need a better therapist.. try a private one instead of one from a pooling service.. finding an ocd specialist has been so helpful and relieving.. a lot of regular therapists also don't know how to beat deal with ocd

Read Brain Lock, Jefferey Schwartz. It changed my thought immediately after i put the book down. I can an even say my obsessing symptoms went away completely

@OCD-PROOF Then after you read that, read Letting Go by david Hawkins. This book sealed the deal on this obsessive bugger and now i laugh at all the stupid humans that cant figure it out or dont want to but no one is self-confident enough to ask for advice so the world is basically killing themselves off flr not wanting to connect to other humans.
