I’m so sorry! That must be really scary. Since the paramedics have already given you some indication that this likely isn’t serious, focus on challenging any of your catastrophizing thoughts right now. If you notice yourself going to the worst possible scenario, take a breath and remind yourself that that’s just one possibility and then think of a few other possibilities (ones that are less bad, ones that are neutral, and even ones that are good.) Whatever happens, you’ll be able to handle it. But worrying won’t make you any more prepared or make this any less scary. I know it’s super hard to wait for results. So just be patient and kind to yourself today. Take it slow. Don’t feel like you have to accomplish anything in the mean time. Focus on relaxing your nervous system since it’s likely in over drive and lean on a close friend if you’re comfortable doing so.

She isnt picking up the phone. In just hoping all the tests go well. I have assignment deadline for the 23rd December and I'm trying to focus on those while I wait but I cant. I'm really trying not to panic. I just want everything to be okay.

@MJocd People often can’t get to their phones in the hospital, especially if they’re performing tests. And sometimes there’s no service. No news doen not mean bad news. It means uncertainty. And you can handle uncertainty for a little while. It may be too much to try to study or do homework right now. Hopefully you’ll get an update soon and then you can refocus once you’ve gotten more information. I like the other persons advice below about asking for an extension. You may not need one if you can get an update soon though. So maybe wait until tomorrow to ask for it to see how things go.

@pureolife They're keeping her in overnight. Mum insists they didn't find anything worrying but just want a specialist to have another look at the report. She still seems well otherwise. I cant see her because they wont let me due to restrictions. I feel so sad :( I'm 23 but my whole life is a mess, my mental health has been so bad I've stuffled with a job. I started online school to get me into uni next year. If something happens to my mum, I'm just terrified of how I'll deal with it. I dont think I can deal with it. :( I'm sorry I'm just so upset and having so many thoughts.

@MJocd That’s a great sign! Trust what your mom is saying. Do your best to stop ruminating for now and focus on your work. It can be much harder to deal with stressors like family illness when our general mental health is already suffering. Are you in treatment with an ocd specialist? If not, I’d highly recommend it.

@pureolife I've been well lately though, I've put a lot of energy into online school which has helped. I spoke to my mum on the phone, shes gone to sleep now. It seems she did have a minor stroke, but the doc said she was lucky and it was only minor and reversed itself. It didnt cause her any harm. He kept her over night to make sure nothing goes wrong and they have a 24 hour policy but he didnt seem too concerned. I spoke to her so I'm calmer. I am just trying to be brave, knowing that I can handle whatever comes my way.

Hey! I don't think it's possible to NOT panic. If you are super stressed and panicky, that's okay! Don't try harder, try different. God is in control 🙏❤️

Maybe you can contact your tutor or lecturer to explain your situation that you may not get it done for the deadline. I am sure they will completely understand given the circumstances 😊
