But I think I’ve had a revelation..ocd recovery is like knowing that the thoughts are there and will always be there to an extent but just not giving a shit. Pardon my language lol but I used to have somatic ocd bad and I still do manual breathing sometimes but it never bothers me or stops me from doing my life. Not like it used to. It’s just weird, someday they just don’t bother you as much once you learn to let go and accept that they’re there.

I understand the fear of the sky completely. Mine is a fear quite similar because I have globophobia aka a fear of balloons which SOUNDS RIDICULOUS I KNOW HAVAVSHAH but it’s a fear of letting them go while outside. It causes me so much anxiety knowing they just keep going up and there’s nothing I can do to get them down I guess. Also with the sky, it’s such a vulnerable place. It’s open to whatever there is in space. Very scary, but we’ll get over it ☺️

@izzleswizzle Thank you 😅 I feel so ridiculous sometimes but it’s just so overwhelming to think about! I’m doing much better with it though and hopefully you can conquer your globophobia too!

Hi there, I know this post was made a couple years ago, not sure if you’re on here still. I intentionally joined this app and used the search bar to see if anyone else had this fear and found your post. I am having almost an identical experience of being terrified of the sky, how big it is, if I will just absorb into it, feeling like it’s a dome, etc. it’s made me scared to fly, scared to drive, even scared to go outside in recent months. Anyway thank you for sharing your experience. It helps to not feel alone. Would love to hear how you’re doing now if you still are here. Sending lots of hope, kindness and positivity your way!

@Confused97 Hi!! That’s what I did when I first starting experiencing this theme, I just searched for anyone who could relate. And I experienced all the same fears and thoughts you are. I stopped driving and stopped going outside even though I used to love hiking. I don’t want to say I’m 100% over this theme, but it doesn’t bother me really at all anymore and I’ve really come to terms with it. What helped me so much was setting goals for myself..really had to do with erp therapy. So saying I’m going to walk outside for 10 minutes. And then gradually increasing it. It was hard but over time it just got better. I still don’t necessarily like the idea of the sky and all those scary thoughts that come with it but I’ve worked really hard to be able to know that I’m safe, it’s not dangerous, and I don’t need to be scared of it. It definitely takes some time to conquer but it is totally totally possible. Wishing you lots of luck!

@emma18 And yes the thoughts still come but I don’t react to them like I used to and they really don’t scare me and that is the goal!

@Confused97 Hi I’m dealing with this newfound fear currently. How are you doing? I’m just starting therapy on this app.
