For those of you who can't afford therapy at the present time I highly suggest OCD self help books. You can get so much from them take it from me.

For those of you who cannot afford NOCD therapy, try the self-help ERP therapy from the book Brain Lock. https://hope4ocd.com/foursteps.php <<< This helped me until I got stuck and needed a therapist but if you can follow this it will help you! It’s ERP you can do on your own without a therapist and that article outlines all the steps from the hook!

Actually that’s inexpensive. Therapist charge $1200 a month for therapy here

When I had a good job I paid the $6000 a year minimum it took but I can’t afford it anymore and my ocd has just got way too bad

that’s insane like wtf. it cost €60 where i’m at and i know in dollars it’s probably around the same. €60 is for the private sector and it’s less for going to a public therapist. it shouldn’t even cost money in my opinion.

Is 60 for each session?

yeah i currently pay €60 for 50 mins every week but i normally get an hour anyway

I definitely understand cost can be an issue. We are working so hard to get more insurances in our system ($123/1hr and $61/30min is our out of pocket rates) most specialist therapists who treat ocd specifically and use ERP charge around 200-300 per session, I kind of compare it to going to a specialist at the doctors office. I know it’s tough because talk therapists are cheaper, but from personal experience and many people I’ve talked to, they often don’t understand ocd as well unless they really specify having a good background in it/ERP. Out of pocket it can be expensive but it’s a good investment to learn ERP specific for ocd in your life. And typically it’s only 9-12 weeks!✨I hope this helps

Have you checked if your insurance is in network? We are always trying to partner with new insurances as fast as we can! We also offer really great payment plans to try to meet you where you’re at :)

@NOCD Advocate - Casie David I suppose I could check, but if my out of pocket expenses is greater than $25 a session, it's probably a no-go.

@Ben84 Definitely worth checking. Worst comes to worst nothing happens, but best case scenario you get into a great treatment program :)

@NOCD Advocate - Casie David Do sessions have to be by video or can they just be over the phone?
- Date posted
- 4y
@Ben84 They are all over video, however we know some people aren’t super comfortable being on video! If you don’t wish to, we just need you to turn it on to verify who we are talking to in the beginning then you can close it!

@NOCD Advocate - Casie David Shucks. Being able to use video is an additional cost. Oh well, I appreciate NOCD working to make it more affordable for more people ☺.
