Being scared of becoming depressed is only going to make you depressed tbh. Do you fear that one day you’ll grow wings or one day you will win the lottery? If you become depressed that doesn’t mean you’ll commit suicide. I was depressed and didn’t. Why not enjoy life and do fun stuff instead of worrying about something that could or could not happen? Instead of worrying what could you do to have fun and enjoy life?

I think that developing depression is a real possibility, one that is much more likely than growing wings or winning the lottery. I figure you know that the goal is to learn to embrace that possibility and live life in spite of that. It's not gonna be easy, but it's the only way. Depression is a real problem, but there are treatments out there in case you end up getting depressed. You can take the steps you gotta take once you truly become depressed, in the meantime you can try and focus on living your life.

@m666 I guess what scares me is the stories of people who do everything but cant get better I guess its rooting from a fear of being unhappy forever

@🐈⬛ I get that! I experience that too. But worrying won’t change anything, how you react and how you challenge the thoughts will!

@m666 Sorry I didn’t mean for it to sound like it was unrealistic! I was just pointing out other things could happen. You could be happy your whole life too!

This is good advice. I’m scared of SI too. So badly. But I know I don’t want it. I just want the OCD thoughts to stop.

@🐈⬛ Because it changed to this i get scared that it will be like this forever but I guess because I actually do google in the evenings about depression and if people can get better ect ect it keeps being a fear I need to try and stop googling

@🐈⬛ You know, i've been at the same place, but google has a lot of information, much of it contradicting itself, but there is still strong evidence that depression is highly treatable. I know this is easier said than done, but like greg said, ruminating will increase your chances of getting depression while embracing the possibility and living anyway (focusing on the good things more) decreases the likeliness. Maybe this thought can help you the next time you feel the urge to google? I know it's not easy, but it's worthing fighting it.

@m666 Thankyou, yes i see the contradictions especially with links between OCD and Depression, the stats are all over the place, some sources saying 3/4 of peiple with OCD get it, some saying 30% and Ali Greymond who says shes only ever come across it as a sort of part of OCD that goes away when the OCD gets treated

Hi I developed these intrusive thoughts as well. And I keep questioning do I have depression or is this OCD? I’m scared I’m treating the wrong thing and letting it get worse. Any tips would help greatly!
