Unless you consider the intrusive sexual thoughts to be the obsession that creates anxiety, and then masturbation is the compulsion to relieve that anxiety. But I think that’s a bit of a stretch

So you get anxious and aroused about the thoughts then you masterbate to relieve the anxiety?

Cause I’m not just relieving anxiety. I’m deriving pleasure from it too. That’s not really OCD

How do you feel after that?

@NOCD Advocate - Danielle Guilty and ashamed. That’s basically how addiction works

@ma345 Right! The therapist you see, are they an OCD therapist? Talk therapist?

Speak to you doctor about your symptoms or side effects. They should be able to give you some answers for sure. I’m not familiar with that medication but some times some meds perform differently for people because of our individual unique chemical make up. Hope you find the answer that you’re looking for after you speak to your physician

Actually Danielle, you posting reminded me that I wanted to ask you something important. So, I have sexual obsessions but they are in and of themselves a separate diagnosis all together. My psychiatrist actually diagnosed my fantasies as sexual paraphilia instead of OCD because the fantasies themselves are atypical and while the thoughts may be intrusive in nature, the fantasies arouse me and I derive pleasure from them even though I don’t necessarily want them floating them around in my head. I know that sexual obsessions in OCD are usually always intrusive, distressing and usually don’t even cause arousal. So my question is: is it appropriate for me to discuss these types of sexual behaviors with people on this app? I just want to know what’s appropriate and what’s not cause I don’t want to make people uncomfortable. I mean, I know people on here discuss POCD all the time and I do not think my sexual fantasies would really be out of place in that respect, but they are certainly not the norm. So if you could please just clarify that for me, that would be great. Thanks!

@ma345 Ok actually there is some genitalia sensations and arousals that can accompany OCD themes of a sexual nature. Dreams, fantasies or even actual sexual acts can end with an unwanted thought, action , urge or feeling. Whether it be SOOCD, POCD, Incestial OCD that’s what bothers us too. I don’t believe this format has any boundaries besides judging, disrespecting or shaming one another. You never know who may have the same issues as you. I’m actually interested to know more about what you are going through

@ma345 I personally consider this place safe, I don’t know if any of my posts will ever be seen by people outside of the forum but that’s the risk I’ll take to recover and help others. So please feel free to share with us whatever is on your mind literally!

@NOCD Advocate - Danielle Danielle I compulsively masturbate to these sexual thoughts and have sexually harassed women verbally to act out these fantasies with me. I think that’s too extreme for OCD.

The sexual fantasy is about domination and control. When I was young, I had a stepmom who was very rigid, overpowering, and controlling. I never had any sense of power when I was living with her. So my theory is the lack of powerlessness I felt then led to the fantasy of wanting to physically control and dominate women. The way I like to do this is via physical competition (e.g. wrestling, racing, and arm wrestling). So basically I harass women I find attractive to compete with me so I can hopefully beat them and have a fantasy to masturbate to later on. And I even ask women I barely know to do this stuff. Like imagine you just a met a guy on Tinder and only an hour into talking with him, he asks you to wrestle. Wouldn’t that raise a red flag in your mind?

My new psychiatrist says that this fantasy falls under the umbrella of sadomasochism which is one of the eight types of paraphilic disorders that exist. And I think this diagnosis makes a lot more sense than OCD

@NOCD Advocate - Danielle And I bet talking them brings you discomfort sometimes, if you do still talk to them. My behavior is very predatory and selfish. I’ve never been in an intimate relationship solely because I cannot control this behavior. I am too obsessed with the fantasy

@ma345 Nope, I just love them for who they are. We all have something, right? That's one reason OCD is so cruel for me, it tries to make me feel guilty for loving all sorts of people regardless of their flaws, addictions, quirks etc

And it should also be noted that NONE of the typical medications used to treat OCD ever helped me manage this behavior better at all. Traditional therapy hasn’t worked either. So now I’m going to consult with an endocrinologist to get on a hormonal drug to reduce my testosterone level. It’s my last attempt to get help from any sort of medication
