I’m trying a low glutamate diet as much as I can! High glutamate = bad OCD, my psychiatrist said, and I definitely showed high glutamate on test results. NOCD has an article on high glutamate and OCD, in addition to other articles and studies online. There was a case study in which a man who had OCD for 39 years, unable to be helped by conventional methods I think, went on a low glutamate diet and had all of his OCD symptoms gone within weeks — but they came back when he ate glutamate again! Take glutamate-modulating supplements too. At the very least, limit the very highest sources of glutamate (gluten, MSG, soy, and much more) which you can find online at “Low Glutamate Diet” on epidemicanswers.org. She has a complete guide (and actually cured her daughter’s autism symptoms with the diet by balancing GABA and glutamate). It’s not the solution but it should definitely help! I eat Paleo as she recommended, and try to limit the highest sources of glutamate as much as I can without driving myself crazy, and take the glutamate-modulating supplements she advised. Also remember that supplements that help with anxiety should help OCD since OCD is an anxiety disorder. It may make ERP easier if you have less anxiety spikes during exposures since anxiety is lessened overall. As for natural things, exercise is GREAT for your brain, bad sleep makes everything worse including OCD, and try to do things you enjoy to improve your overall quality of life and to keep yourself more encouraged (even if OCD prevents you from enjoying it 100% — keep doing ERP and it’ll get better!). Hope that helps 💖

@jemm I've also heard Green Tea is a godsend for anxiety too, I need to drink more of it.

@jemm I literally run on green tea, drinking a cup while writing this 😂 The quality of tea varies, expensive isn't always better and cheap ones might contain some dangerous chemicals, well depending on your country's standards. It's like that for many foods, but it might be worth to do a little quick research before deciding on a brand if you can be bothered to do so :) Yeah yeah life is full of informaion and choices haha

Do you find much effect mentally on a Paleo diet at all, any reduction in symptoms at all?

I feel SLIGHTLY less anxious is i just cut out the unhealthy stuff, mainly sugar, fat, salt and meat. My problem is that anxiety always makes me stuff myself with u healthy stuff again when i try to eat clean for too long, because it's one thing that does take the edge down...so i have it kinda backwards, but that's just me :( at least i never struggled with anything else besides pimples so far as a result from this

Always a good idea to cut all the processed rubbish isn't it. I say, as I'm eating a pack of Frazzles😂
