Yeah it can. Thats a bad stage of OCD where you start giving up and start believing the alerts your mind is giving you. Its super important you don't give in. Id reccomend talking to a thearpist at this point because things can get a lot worse.

Yeah I’ve been like this because I feel the lack of sleep is making it worse. I usually go to bed at 11 or 12 so I feel the lack of sleep is affecting me a lot. I know if I make a schedule for myself it can get better because I don’t eat that much or get enough sleep. I know if I sleep early and eat theny mental health will get better.

@Anonymous Yeah its important to have a good sleep schedule. Should aim to get 8-9 hours of sleep. And yeah for me its a little different. The intrusive thoughts go away for me for the first 1 to 2 days of sleep deprivation then after that it gets considerably worse until I catch up on sleep.

@PRYM Yeah I have noticed that the lack of sleep is making it worse but still I don’t give in to the thoughts because I know I’m not a bad person. I feel like my ocd is really bad now and if I don’t get a good sleep schedule then it will get worse. I’ve been doing therapy with a nocd Therpaist and we are just starting erp but it’s getting worse maybe because I’m not putting my part in of eating and sleeping well. After all sleep is the key to a good mental health and exercise as well!!

@Anonymous Yeah you should try putting more effort into sleep and diet. See if it helps the rest of the thearpy. I feel like it would but just starting ERP is known to cause extreme anxiety in people who have OCD so its not that outrageous you might be feeling worse at first.

@PRYM Yeah I should put more effort!! yeah it really is the worst so far like the worst

@Anonymous Yeah it gets worse before better. Just give yourself some breaks. Like if the anxiety is too much just stop the ERP activity until you feel better or the next day. You want to be able to get through the anxiety but you should also be gentle with yourself when its too much.

@PRYM Okay sounds good and does it usually get better after a few weeks of erp?

That would be cool to try hypnosis and does it really work or no?

My thearpist said it works and can be a good tool but its hard to say who it will and won't work for. I'll find out for sure when I start it. I just have to wait for my thearpist to get her covid shot then she said she'll start seeing me in person again and we can start. So pretty excited to see what the results will be.

@Anonymous Yeah like are you having the thought halfway and then forget about it? Then realize like wait do I actually not care or is it actually true? I think its because our brains are giving up on it

@Anonymous I feel that I enjoy thoughts but its just ocd, you need to accept them and accept everything, that's the answer.

I cant say for sure. I'm starting the ERP on my own and my thearpist is focusing more on CBT with me. But since I've combined the two I've reduced the length of my panic attacks and I don't have the intrusive thoughts as much. My thearpist wants to try hypnosis with me next so I'm curious to see if that helps.

I have no clue. My thearpist isn't a NOCD one. She's worked with patients that have OCD. Its just one of the thearpy methods she knows. I like her a lot because she's willing to experiment and see what works.

So, yesterday while I was laying in bed, I was relaxing when suddenly I had an intrusive thought about someone, but the thing is that it brought me a sense of enjoyment or calmness for a few seconds before it went away. Once it did, it was only until hours later when I realized what had happened and I began to freak out because I'm reading everywhere that when someone experiences this type of thing, the anxiety happens shortly after the enjoyment or "false" enjoyment. Can OCD do this?

Whenever anyone starts to feel like their thoughts are less triggering or they feel a moment of happiness/ relief OCD tells you that you want the thoughts back or you actually like having the thoughts and maybe thats just the person I really am? I feel like im going insane😢

With ocd can the thoughts themselves feel entirely true???? Or is it just the narrative around the thought that feels true/real?
