Sounds like ocd..

I know, but i have no idea like what kind it is. Its so frustrating to me because it feels like my own mind is the worst place to go for any comfort or any compliments. it sucks because this isnt actually how i feel and its making me question like do i actually love them or am i just lying to everyone and im secretly an assh*le

@abby223 I know i do love and feel good things and think good things about everyone but my mind just goes to the most opposite extreme

@abby223 To be honest from your description I’m not sure what ocd theme you have and think it would be best to find an ocd specialist. Sometimes my ocd makes me feel bad for being an asshole and it confuses me but I know for somethings I’m an asshole about it but for somethings I’m very caring. You’ll be fine. Just get some help.

I deal with this. I can’t even just fully appreciate anything around me because my ocd will battle me. “Just thinking I love my husband” - ocd is like “ya sure about that? Let me make you think you don’t” like literally anything or anytime I try to feel true happiness ocd tries to overtake it

exactly. it makes me feel so shitty cause its so untrue. i hate feeling like i have to fight in my head to literally say like look dude i do love this and my boyfriend and everyone. it just sucks because it wont go. im sorry you deal with this too, its so awful and i wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy

My brain does this all the time and then I wonder if I truly want that

It sucks. I'll be wondering the same thing but ill never let it rip from my true feeling and intent. It just make me question all of my intent and im like am i really an awful person or am i just having this issue because my brain wants me to isolate like aughhh

this happens to me too - but in a different way. i may want to speak my mind on something or make a bold statement about how i feel and my ocd tells me the opposite or makes me question if that's really what i stand for. i don't know if this makes much sense but for example, while discussing something with friends, I'll want to go ahead and give my detailed perspective on the situation and my ocd is like "uhm no this ain't you you're putting an act you're faking it start doubting it rn" and my mind goes blank after that and i start questioning. idk how to deal with this.

I feel this too !! Especially if im like saying something kind and true to me , my brain will say something negative to counteract what im actually saying and then it makes me feel like im lying too. I feel like a liar because my own brain tells me i dont mean ANYTHING i say whether its good or bad. i feel you, i just think we all need help for this battle

@abby223 god yes !! i hate how ocd makes me question basic things, like my own personality, values and likes-dislikes. sometimes it feels like i can't even separate my true thoughts from my intrusive ones, when they attack such fundamental things about identity. it's really confusing. i hope you and me both get the help we need

Remember this, your obsessions can be about ANYTHING. The issue here is that your having intrusive thoughts that contradict your base thoughts making it so you get strung up on the fact that you practically said, what if they aren't handsome or pretty. That being said ocd is built around doubt, so your OCD is essentially making you doubt your own judgement of other people.

that explains a lot, i just feel like im this big bombard of lies ringing in my head. my thoughts and judgements of people used to be unbothered with a bit of issue until august of 2020. it sucks.

@abby223 I feel your pain, my personal battle with ocd was very tough but one crucial pice of advice i needed to get the most control over my ocd is: change your perspective. You may have heard this before, but the thing about ocd is that you cant make the intrusive thoughts stop or go away, but you can sort of turn them down to a dull whisper. This way of thinking has helped me a LOT instead of focusing on getting rid of your thoughts, allow them to enter the mind and just try and turn down the volume. It makes it a lot more tolerable focusing on quieting the voices than to get rid of them entirely. Sorry this is so long, I just REALLY wanted to get the point across and hope anyone reading this can truly understand.

@The Overthinker I feel that !! that definitely has worked for me, theres times where im just like okay clearly these thoughts are bullshit and i feel present and the voices are softer. then when im alone they get loud and intense again. i will try to do this, thank you. this really helos

@abby223 Yeah, my thoughts also get louder when im alone or in the company of someone uncomfortable. Im glad i was able to help, best of luck.
