ERP man. Also understanding a few things that others have mentioned. These are thoughts, and our interaction with them is the only thing that matters. My “normal” friends also have violent thoughts. Also, people from OCD suffer from thought-action fusion which means that we perceive having the thought to be as bad as the act itself. Mix that in with perfectionism, as most OCD sufferers have and you have a recipe for serious suffering. Please please know that ERP works. Stay on the meds, bud face your fears man. Do it. You need to expose yourself to the triggers in a controlled manner. 1 hr at a time twice a day until the anxiety is down to half

Have you tried ERP yet? It seems you only tried medication and medication is not for everyone . I would definitely reccomend getting therapy through NOCD . I have had those same gruesome images also and even the urge to commit them. I am now in a better place because of ERP.

Yes exactly I’m afraid as I have the urges so you’ve had the same not that it’s good but it’s nice too know I’m not the only one guy that it too is ocd as images have to be the worst too

@moloney Your not alone. It’s actually quite common with harm ocd to get images of you harming yourself or even thoughts telling you to harm yourself. Use ERP towards those thoughts or images don’t resist them just let them come and go . Teach your brain you can handle the discomfort and they eventually get less intense and fade .

Does rep get the images away or is that just for harm on lpeople

The intent of ERP is not to get rid of the images but to change how we react to those images. Everybody gets intrusive thoughts and images in their head but people with OCD tend to over analyze those thoughts and think they have meaning when they really don’t . Through commitment and proper guidance of a therapist you can overcome these thoughts!

I have had harm ocd for about five months but OCD since I was teenager. I am in a better place because of therapy and the thoughts don’t bother me as much as they used to .
