I've suffered with OCD and anxiety since being little and I just think i should be able to deal with this better now. And when I can't feel those raw emotions it just makes me believe I am and want to be this bad person becuase u feel like i don't care about anything. I totally understand with how we become desensitised to the thoughts but I thought once that happened the thoughts would become less. where as instead becoming less sensitive has only led me to believe I want the thoughts etc. again I thank you so much for taking the time to talk. is your harm OCD aimed at yourself or others if you don't mind me asking. I hope you are doing ok with your OCD at the moment. ❤

it’s aimed at both myself and the people I love. I also suffer from other themes. It makes sense that becoming desensitized to the thoughts makes you think you want the thoughts because you just feel numb and aren’t having a negative reaction. I understand how hard it can be!! I’ve also been dealing with ocd since I was little, there is still hope for us, there are ages and times when it’s harder to cope with ocd, don’t expect yourself to be able to deal with it better now, since a lot of ocd can get worse at different times. ❤️

@sophie02 mine is related to my little girl and has been since she was born 9 years ago, I never had any harm ocd themes before this but I had other themes. Harm ive never been able to shift and its been so hard, its like I know how mad it all sounds and I have a really good understanding of OCD but it never sticks I always believe the OCD ita really frustrating. I think you speak with such wisdom and knowledge in regards to OCD and I really value everything you have said. it would be good to keep in touch with each others journeys. X

@Kimberley* I agree! Harm might be the hardest to shift because it’s affecting what you love the most. Ocd targets what you love the most, like your daughter, and that’s why it’s so hard to overcome! When the harm thoughts are really bad sometimes I’ll challenge myself to go watch a show or movie with one of my family members or dogs. By the end of the movie I feel better cause I know, here I am and I just sat next to my sister/ brother/ etc. and I didn’t do anything and I’m here and they’re here and we are all okay! ❤️

@sophie02 yes definitely I've often thought that, its the worst theme I could possibly have, another theme I suffer with at the min is worrying I don't love my little girl or any of my family which is just a manifestation of the harm OCD. its just one big mess really. and then not feeling emotions just naturally feeds it. that's a good idea with going watching a movie and I'm glad that it helps you to feel better ❤

lovely words ❤ i am struggling so bad with everything at the moment. I'm worried i dont have OCD and that I'm a terrible person or that I have schizophrenia. I'm having a really hard time.

I understand! There have been times when I’ve worried about exaclty the same thing! Especially because my uncle is schizophrenic and I thought it might be genetic. I hope you know that as terrible and hard and painful as everything is right now, it will get better and there are good days to come!! I am here for you if you need me, really<3 you’ve got this!

@sophie02 thankyou for your kindness i feel like I dont deserve it. I worry that I want these thoughts because it feels like I do. I can't feel any emotion or love and I'm just so worried this isn't ocd anymore because the way I feel can't be normal. I just don't know how I can cope with this forever. nothing brings me relief anymore. thankyou so much for your reply. xx

@Kimberley* You do deserve it trust me! Everyone with ocd worries they want the thoughts. I don’t want to reassure you too much because it isn’t helpful long term, but it will help you to know I’ve been on this app for a very long time and all of us Have had moments where the thoughts and images don’t cause a reaction anymore and we feel numb, and that’s okay. It just means the thoughts have gotten to a point of repetition and frequency that makes us sort of just adjust to it. For example a surprise will only spark a reaction a few times before the person becomes used to it. It’s hard to feel love and other emotions when the anxiety and fear become overwhelming, or even the numbness becomes overwhelming. It’s okay to be in a hard place, it doesn’t make you less of a person or anything else like that. You won’t have to cope with it forever, ocd does not run your life!! Even if does feel that way sometimes. With time and help we can all overcome ocd! We just have to have hope. ❤️
