Everyone please be nice. I understand that taboo themes like SO OCD are harder to understand especially if you do not experience it, but just don’t harass people about it. If you’re really confused, ask for explanations. Most people with SO OCD aren’t homophobic. SO OCD itself is not homophobic in nature. I do agree that sometimes when people are anxious or stressed about our thoughts and they come here to ask for help, they can word things in ways that aren’t the nicest or are offensive even though that is not their intention.

i’m not trying to harass by any means but i have been curious about that myself, is it an issue within yourself or are these people also judgemental towards actual gay folks? it seems like a fine line but i have no idea considering that’s not what i struggle with

We're not judgmental towards homosexuals we're just judgmental towards ourselves

It’s more like an attack on someone’s identity. Like I never judged the lgbt community before this. I had close friends who were gay and never thought anything of it, but when I first got the thought of being gay it was like pure terror because I don’t want to be with a women. The thought of never being happy with a man or starting a family with a man and having to do it with a woman terrified me because it goes against everything I have ever wanted. I get it’s really hard for some people to understand but I get really sad when people think those with SOOCD are homophobic because I think the majority are not

specifically i dont like how some people on here say they’re disgusted with themselves for having homosexual thoughts when it’s not something disgusting or wrong at all? i understand if you are not actually gay how it can be confusing and frustrating but i don’t understand why anyone would be “disgusted” with it other than if they are homophobic

The thing is it's something that we don't like. And it's something that we're having constant thoughts about. sure there might be nothing wrong with being gay but there is something wrong with it for us cuz it's not who we are

@Anonymous just keep in mind we don't hate gay people nor do we think gay people are disgusting we just don't like it but our bodies are telling us that we do.

@Exoduslevi that makes sense, i think i could compare it to having those thoughts about a person i dont actually have any attraction to but my OCD is telling me i do. which is somethin i do struggle a lot with so i completely understand where you’re coming from now

Because it’s disgusting to them. The thought of me being with a female is nasty- because I’m not gay. I’m sure any guy who is straight is also grossed out by the thought of liking guys. Gay men all the time talk about how vaginas are gross. It’s the same, you are either attracted to that sex or you aren’t.
