It really does sound like we’re going through a similar type of OCD. I too have made actions and this is something I struggle with daily. But I’ve come to believe that those actions were influenced by my OCD and not by what is in my heart.

Also, given my experience, I do not believe that your OCD can change who you really are.

You’re more than welcome. You’re definitely not crazy no matter how you feel. I agree that it’s comforting to know that we’re not alone in this. I’m so happy to have been able to help you and be a friend❤️❤️

sometimes people laugh in uncomfortable or very intense situations, for example I know a lot of people who can’t help but laugh at funerals, but that’s just their way of coping with the situation

Hi guys, sorry to write on this post so late. I’m struggling so I looked in the search bar. I feel really alone and like no one understands this. So here it goes - I feel I have “opposite actions” fuelled by the ocd but meaning compulsions and rituals.. I mean like bad actions. For example, my cat was sick on my carpet. I didn’t feel angry I felt more concerned. However my ocd was telling me that I was angry. Then I raised my voice and my cat as he was meowing for me to come into the living room (he likes company), as I was cleaning up the vommit. I feel terrible as I believe pets recognise tone of voice etc, and he’s an old wee man and I’m literally tearing myself apart over this x

@Catlady, do you struggle with making actions from the ocd as well?

I do as well! And I’ve never ever found someone who can relate! How do you cope with it? I tell myself not to do something and I do it!

Well OCD only uses things that are contrary to who we are. So I think that whenever we make these actions our intent isn’t actually what we think it is. I think sometimes when a thought about doing something goes through our head we have an urge to do it.

I think that making these actions is partly subconscious. It’s kind of hard for me to put all this into words, so I’m sorry if I’m not making sense.

Thank you @Catlady. For 4 years I’ve never came across anyone who feels the same as me in the sense of committing intrusive actions or what me and my mum would call “intrusive actions”. I feel like I’m spiralling this weekend. So many worries so many concerns, guilt and shame. The side of ocd where you have an intrusive thought and then do an action is so unknown and that hurts.

You’re welcome. I’m sorry this weekend has been hard for you. I do agree, this part of OCD isn’t talked about that much, but it is very real and it has troubled me so many times. I know your pain❤️

Thank you for helping me and responding Catlady ❤️ (also love the name as i am car crazy myself! If you ever want to talk follow @smudgeylove on Instagram) In terms of my actions it’s things I know better that I shouldn’t do and have the thought ‘don’t do that’ and then I do. Obviously nothing ‘major’ as I’m a free citizen lol. Is that what you suffer from also? ❤️

I’ve had almost every form of OCD I know about at some point or another. But one of my biggest themes has been magical thinking. It’s so horrible because it can take the most innocent of actions and turn them against you. So your actions may not actually be bad on their own, but OCD can make you think that they are.
