You point out for others to trust Jesus, thats great. You try to trust Him, but it doesnt work out well...that doesnt make you a hypocrite. Not at all. You trust Him as much as you can. This is a bit if a reassurace question, but at the same time I will remind you that you are deeply loved and He knows all about your struggles.

Also: I dont think we need to ask for forgiveness all the time. You are forgiven, you are loved. Think about a parent a the child. I dont think a good parent wants to hear this "forgive me" all the time, I do think a good parent tell the child "come on, I know its not easy, we will do this together, follow me."

I hope so ๐๐.. I compulsively pray allll day long and repent over small things but they feel very important.

@ButterflyStar You have to break that pattern. Its compulsive, it does nothing good for you or God.

@Estrid I know that. So much lol but HOW to break it is very difficult and unknown to me. I'm unsure how to start ERP on my compulsive praying. It is so vast and has tenticles that touch so many things I don't even know where to begin

@ButterflyStar I see, its hard. Have you listened to Mark Dejesus about OCD on you tube. Very good! Maybe you have to take a period without praying at all, just be. Or just gave easy small talks with God in a nonritualistic way. For a long time I had to stop reading the Bible, it helped me to begin a new relationship with God. I hope someone will help you. Someone who understand you. Know that God feels your pain, and He isn't disappointed with you, He wants you to be free in His presence.

@Estrid I hope for that person too.. Thank you. So much. I couldn't go from 100 to zero unfortunately.. It would be like telling someone with continuation ocd to 'stop washing your hands for a while and see how that goes'. I can't even go 30mins without praying.. OCD is very tough. And unfortunately a lot of Christians don't understand Scrupolosity and can even honour and encourage the obsessive praying, reading Bible, repentance and highly sensitive conscious as something like a holy characteristic to be praised. But its not, its OCD. Its out of anxiety and fear, not faith. So nice you've found freedom

@ButterflyStar Yes this is true. It is nothing to be praised. I feel like doing any exposures bring me closer to Jesus than to pray or do some thing solely out of fear.

@NickD Really? Are you in therapy? What's helping you make ERP exercises? This is what I find hard and trying to figure out the 'perfect way' of starting exposures

@ButterflyStar Watch Ali Greymond on YouTube and also anxiety and ocd on YouTube

@ButterflyStar I get you about this going from 100 to zero. It was an example, and I didnt know how much you pray. But as you describe it I think you can make a plan where you chose to not pray for say 15 minutes and then you increase the time a bit each week. Like a exposure hierarchy.
