It’s antidepressants and they aren’t addictive meaning you can stop them easily and some you’ll be begging to stop but when you go off the withdrawals are hell

Hi there, Your fears are understandable. However, I think I can ease your mind. SSRI’s (antidepressants often prescribed for OCD) are not addictive. Benzodiazepine’s (Xanax or Valium) are tranquilizers that can be prescribed in tandem with SSRI’s that do have the potential to be addictive. These medications work differently, and you do not have to take a benzo with an SSRI. An SSRI is designed to help restore your brain, not cause any euphoric or sedative effect. There is a lot of misconceptions about antidepressants, so many people steer of them based off of false facts and fear mongering. I used to steer of medications my entire life, but after beginning Prozac this year, I regret listening to all the stigma because it’s made a world of difference is helping me feel like myself again. Medication isn’t for everyone, and everyone responds differently to it. Just be sure you make the choice based off of what’s accurate and right for you. I hope this could be of some help.

Just a reminder that you can go to therapy and not take meds! About your fears with addiction, you should ask a psychiatrist about it. I’m sure there are some hard facts and data they can show you so you can make a decision about whether you want to pursue it or not. Take care!

Yes, there are people who can recover from therapy itself. Medication is just a tool, but cognitive behavioral therapy is what allows for greater long term impact.
