Not at all. I trust my ocd therapist 100% without a second guess. A normal doctor is not skilled or educated in OCD most of the time so that could be why they told you GAD. This happens to a lot of people. But if you already have an OCD diagnosis then why change doctors

Cz i was constantly thinking abut my diagnostic and no the one who diagnosed me with GAD is a psychiatrist also but he’s BAD and New i opened he’d clinic just some weeks ago not like the one who diagnosed me with OCD who has a big career in OCD treatment, for trusting him it was so hard cz he only sees me 30minutes per 2 monhs , and trully it makes me mad even if he’s absolutely sure that i do have only OCD

@TheChakib they don’t need to see you for a long time to understand what mental illness you have. They will typically ask you your symptoms and then go through a series of questions then be able to diagnose you. And it doesn’t matter if they are a psychiatrist or a therapist they can both diagnose you. Every one I have seen has agreed with each other on diagnosis

@TheChakib And you said in your original post that the person that diagnosed you with OCD just opened their clinic in 6/2020

@Justmesadly Yeah but this step was in 11/2020 since that i only goes to him once per 2 months to get my ocd prescription and see how did i improve with the Zoloft treatment , i know that ocd is the doubt illness but i can’t stop my self on doubting and thinking always abut he’s diagnostic and what will happen if he’s wrong stuff like that always stressed and thinking , trusting him is so so hard i want to trust him very much but i can’t he saids that i have to work on that but it’s trully hard how can i ignore another psychiatrist diagnosed doubt and anxiety .

@Justmesadly No not that the person who diagnosed me with OCD is and old therapist, the one who diagnosed me with GAD is the one who opened his clinic just this year 1 month i guess ago , she was in the same room with my aunt at medical school, my aunt told me that she’s so bad and that i have to follow the one who diagnosed me with OCD

@TheChakib Sorry not therapist , psychiatrist and therapist the both every one i had seen is a psychiatrist and therapist

@TheChakib Even if they are therapist they don’t do therapies.

@TheChakib I would see a therapist not a psychiatrist as a psychiatrist is typically just for diagnosing and giving drugs. If you have OCD then you need therapy to help you to get better. And if you have GAD then you can also go to therapy to help you get better

@TheChakib It doesn’t make any sense for them to be therapist and not do therapy... that’s the point of a therapist

@Justmesadly I know , the one who diagnosed me with GAD do the therapies just bcz she’s new but the other one who diagnosed me with OCD don’t do therapies cz he said that he don’t have time and if he did it will cost so much expensive .

@TheChakib and thats totally fair! I was just sharing because I suffer from both so I wanted to inform that people can be diagnosed with both/experience them at the same time. They overlap and share symptoms at times aswell.
