My therapist says this is good. The least you react the better. And there’s more than 1 excerise. So if it doesn’t work then try something else

Hi. It's really good to see you today. :) So not having a reaction to any of this is good? It's weird because they'll usually be stronger when I'm not trying to do ERP. Some days I believe I won't go to jail but other times I'm not. Then rarely I worry about not worrying

@BigGip09 Yep that’s exactly what happened when I tried to do ERP for my real event, I did wrote a letter and the anxiety was like 2, I listened to my say the event on a loop tape and the anxiety was like 0-1. But when I see a post about child molesters or when that friend post on fb I was like 10 anxiety. So what my therapist said is that’s fine, then at that point keep going on social media keep clicking on their pictures when they come up and sit with that anxiety bc that’s still ERP it’s just not the same way! For me it was super effective.

@BigGip09 I agree, try something new. Find your triggers. Movies, stories, songs.

@Justmesadly Omg, I can't believe we have the exact similar situation. I'm honestly surprised. Honest question, can ERP be unintentional? Because I definitely remember events on social media where I saw things I definitely didn't like such as posts about jail, cartoon CP being used as memes, or people sharing really triggering content. I remember how anxious I was when seeing those things. I remember my heartbeat throbbing, my hands and feet shaking, and all I could remember is trying to get my breathing together until it eventually subsided. But, after it did, I kinda felt.. better? Like it was a weird sensation of adrenaline that just made the worrying mood sort of go away in that moment. I hope that makes sense. What do you think I should do in this situation? I've been trying to read up on ERP methods since yesterday with a friend.

@Daria Alexandrovna I feel like movies, documentaries and songs about that would make my anxiety go too high. But I'm honestly not sure I've never tried it

@BigGip09 Don’t watch the entire movie, video, etc watch a couple mins and increase as we go. Yes erp can be unintentional.

@Justmesadly Okay, I'll give that a try. I may need a friend to help me get started on this though. I don't think I would be able to do that on my own for the first time, that's for sure. Thank you so much for dropping by! Seriously, your comments and posts always mean a lot to me. :)

@BigGip09 Try it and see what level of anxiety you reach. Find something that is like 10, 7, 5 level anxiety. And practice furthermore

@Justmesadly Yep, I agree

@BigGip09 You can do it! It takes a lot of effort and strong desire to get better but you can for sure do it!

Well ERP isn't in just writing it down? What do you do with it?

That's the thing, I'm not even sure. I read my obsessions over and over, I even got images that would normally triggered me, I even listened to a recording that explained how to practice not doing compulsions. I just got bored and ended my exercise, like the app recommended that I should do.

You don’t always have to have a reaction. We tend to complicate treatment. ERP is just exposing yourself to a trigger and resisting or reducing compulsions? Did you do that? Then you did ERP! Sometimes you’ll feel intense distress during it, sometimes not. You can always go up you’re hierarchy if you’re trying to push forward. But isn’t being bored a great reaction to something that bothered you so much?

I'm not sure. The app told me that it's recommended that I stop the exercise if I'm feeling bored about the practice. I need to read up on ERP more maybe

@BigGip09 Sure, it usually means that you might want to move up in your hierarchy.
