OCD is hard mainly because of how real if feels and how hard it is to ignore at times. We just have to sit through anxiety and try to avoid reassurance and engaging with thoughts as much is possible. But it is really easier said than done..

Thank you Daria, I know it's pretty hard, but after all, we are dealing with a very intelligent issue...

girl, just listen to me and forget about everyone around you for a moment. Close yours eyes, breathe in ur overthinking and imagine a red stop. Now, count to 5 seconds and think about a different topic, repeat this until the thought is gone, it may not work for me but it could for work you :)))

Could you elaborate more on the question? For example- are you having intrusive thoughts then automatically throwing labels on them and judging them? Is that what you mean by saying âgiving meaning to my OCDâ?

I have harm OCD towards myself, and I tend to believe (even if I don't want to) what my OCD says to me

@Ambra Yes, exactly. And it makes you feel as if you're lying if you are saying or thinking what you want to think.

@Daria Alexandrovna In my case it's not like that...my OCD comes as an order or a command, it says to me that I actually have to kill myself because I have no other choice, because I'm "obligated" to act on my thought (even if I don't want to as I said earlier). My harm OCD didn't use to come at me in this way, it'll usually come like a "what if" question; but because of an exposure that I did on purpose I got so triggerd that my OCD ended up changing form (not theme) and come at me in this way that wants to "punish" me for that exposure that I did a few days ago

@Ambra Ok thanks for the explanation. So Iâm pretty far along in the recovery of OCD after 10 years of struggle. Still some hiccups where I catch myself doing a compulsion, but thatâs life. Advice that has changed my life is this- Whatever is going on in my brain, is none of my business. Itâs hard to grasp at first, but once you comprehend this aspect, your mental health will start to improve. Our thoughts are things we experience. They are real thoughts. They can be âgoodâ thoughts or âbadâ thoughts. But I donât put any meaning toward them. So that means I donât label them as âgood or badâ they are just brain digestion. Thoughts are going to happen no matter what. Farts that come out of my ass are an experience. They are real farts. But I donât label them as âgood or badâ they are just farts and they are just stomach digestion. Your brain is just an organ like any organ in your body and it will do things automatically. Your thoughts and feelings do not define who you are. For example- letâs say tonight you are cooking dinner for yourself. Youâre using a knife to cut some veggies. Out of the blue you get the thought âWhat if I stab myself right now?â You just had a thought. Maybe you get anxiety from that thought, maybe you donât. Ultimately it was a thought. Practice not labeling that thought as good or bad. Let that question just sit there- donât answer the question, that would be a compulsion. You donât have to answer the questions in your head. You value making dinner for yourself so you can nourish your body. So continue making dinner. OCD just cares about the compulsions. Learn to cut out the compulsions and donât label thoughts in your head and your mental health will start to improve slowly over time đ
