For me being put on medication help me be less reactive to my intrusive thoughts and not give into compulsions. I felt like I was able to focus on life rather than my fears. I want to add with my ocd being at a bad state, the medication also helped bring my appetite back. I wasn’t hungry at all, and couldn’t sleep. I tried to get off my meds recently, and my ocd spiked horribly. It’s by far one of the dumbest decisions I made. But I’m back on meds, and I’m doing better. I want to be put back on Zoloft eventually.

Prozac has diminished my ocd thoughts by 50% within honestly the first 3 days of taking 10 mg.

I used to take sertraline and it did make me a little less anxious BUT it had a crappy impact on my sex drive. I feel much better and calmer with strategies and treatment such as ERP, breathing exercises and meditation than I did with it. It also helped me A LOT when I became a vegetarian (I’m not a dietitian but I guess it has to do with sugar intakes or something).

Do you think this may be a checking compulsion ? If it’s not, I take Zoloft and have liked it but lately I’ve noticed managing stress and sleeping enough are huge pieces of the puzzle for me

No, I don’t think so. I’m just curious as to if meds would be a good addition to therapy.

@Anonymous The best combination they say is both but I’m sure people with mild vs severe ocd have different ways of coping. Good luck.
