Yeah it is, especially by now, I almost feel like it’s “normal” now because I’ve been having it for so long. I don’t know what is real or my ocd anymore

While you can experience a moment of your OCD symptoms becoming moderate to severe, OCD is often a condition people are born with. Even if you experience late onset symptoms, you’ve likely always had OCD or the disposition for OCD. I used to think I didn’t develop it until I was teenager, but after reviewing behaviors and anxieties I experienced as a child, I realized it went back much further.

Yeah, I definitely think people have a natural propensity to become OCD about things, whether or not it’s ‘dormant’ waiting to show up, I’m not sure, but it’s biological - so who knows how it comes about! You could say that my health anxiety was a manifestation of OCD, which it could have but they’re considered seperate entities in the DSM. Thanks for the response!

Got mine at age 36 and not because of ocd but because of a nightmare I had about stabbing my wife and haven’t been the same sense this nightnare

Yeah, that makes sense. I think some people just have a propensity to become ‘OCD’, and it doesn’t necessarily has to have been there your whole life. I’m sorry you’ve gone through that, no one deserves that❤️

I am completely the same Louise, I have had health anxiety twice before and was fine for most of the pandemic then janurary this year I’ve developed OCD and it’s horrible. I’d like to think it’s a bleep and it will pass but that’s not healthy. Now we have to work hard to get it under control.. yay us! Lol

There is not timeline for OCD! It can hit at literally anytime

my therapist said i had “borderline OCD behaviors” as I was growing up (due to experiences/things I was telling her ab my childhood) but until the pandemic, it didn’t fully latch on and become full force. Especially for women I believe it’s common for it to begin later in life. But it can happen at anytime, for anyone!

I been dealing with ocd for more than 5 years now, but thanks to the pandemic it got worse.
