I heard that Zoloft makes you very zombie like and everyone that I’ve known that took Zoloft said they didn’t liked it but then again, everyone is different and reacts differently to each medication. I’m currently on Prozac 80 mg and I find that it helps me a little bit. I still have a little bit of the ocd but the anxiety and depression is overall gone.

I talked to my provider today. She said because my side effects were so bad (dark thoughts if you know what I mean) she said we are going to give Prozac a try!

I took Lexapro, which is virtually the same as Zoloft, for one day and it turned me into a zombie. I didn’t feel anxious, but I also couldn’t feel happy. I also got literally every side effect on the list. Overall, was not worth it for me. Generally I try to steer people away from pharmacology unless they absolutely need medication to function. I’ve found daily exercise, meditation, and CBD oil to be far more effective than any prescribable antidepressant.

Zoloft worked okish for me for a year. Then I started having constant nauseau, headaches and dissociation with it and had to stop it.

Zoloft has helped me personally, I'd say try it out. If it doesn't work for you then it doesn't, you're not forced to take it and there is multiple medications for ocd!

I think it’s really normal when you’re in an anxiety state to think and worry with “this isn’t helping” but to be honest you haven’t been on it very long and are on a very low dose.I believe it take 8 weeks to see improvement. I’m on a very high dose and do not feel like a zombie (which someone said they heard ppl who take Zoloft are). I feel way more like I did prior to having ocd. It’s given me what I would call the “boat” and ERP is giving me the”oars”. You need both to row.

hii! i’m currently on zoloft (200mg) 🥲 & for me it’s been helping w my depression, but not so much my ocd;; my psychiatrist said that for individuals with ocd, the dosage for zoloft tends to be much higher and that i haven’t reached that range yet (so hopefully there’ll be some improvement when i get there) but personally for me zoloft made me feel a lot more tired during the day and it was rlly difficult for me to sleep at night & i’d usually wake up in a sweat ;; but everyone reacts to medication differently so i don’t blame you for wanting to switch !! good luck 🥺🤍

I am also taking 200mg of Zoloft. I was recommended to try another form of serotonin because I also get really sleepy when I take Zoloft. I would suggest talking to your pyschaitrist about other alternatives!

Hey, what are your side effects? 🤗

Is it then necessary to take it until end of life? Or is it possible to take it only for a while

Most people come off it at some point.

I was told that it's completely up to you. If you feel great then why stop? You know. But some people use it just for a period of time along with therapy to eventually come off completely.

@Anonymous Oh yes that’s what I meant. Some people go on for short periods and actually a lot of people I know who use SSRIs want to come off eventually. But it is entirely up to the individual.

Everyone is different! Zoloft worked for me in the begining, now I can’t really tell. I’ve been on it for over 2 years now and my OCD changes so often so it’s hard to tell what my baseline is anymore. Mental health medications are kind of a big guessing game many times. Trying different prescribed meds and different doses is kinda what you gotta do until you find what works for you!

It works well for me. I'm only at 50mg, I know it takes 6 to 8 weeks to start noticing any changes , But it, like other meds, it might need a supplement, or switch. I've not tried Prozac,

I am honestly desperate to try anything, I tried prozac and it works but it makes me gain weight which makes my body image issues even worse, so I need help. Has anyone tried it?

Hello. I am a mom of a 15 yo who has been diagnosed with severe OCD and also depression and anxiety disorders. Medication was recommended. Specifically clomipramine. As of now he refuses to take it. Says he 50 % of the way considering it. He was not able to complete most of his HW last week, spends much of the day feeling anxious, isolates in his room for hours. Says he wants to try to manage it - says he’s doing better bc he was able to focus in his math class - says he doesn’t want med bc he is afraid it will mess w his mind (numb his feelings). Any advice for how to get him over this hump? Any good experience from med? It’s hard for me to watch him suffer knowing that med is an option and he could be feeling better. Also hard to watch him get zeros in classes when he is smart and capable. Thank you ahead of time. Also, his NOCD therapist is on vacation but had recommended med as well to help my son engage better in ERP

Hi, I don’t know what to do anymore Pocd kills me I had many themes before but this theme is the hardest for me. I’m tired. I’m on therapy and meds but I barely do erp . I don’t have a reason I just don’t want to do it but today I will because I have to. I’m taking meds and they help with the anxiety for sure. But the obsessive part is still here . I’m almost 2 months on it (40 mg on Prozac) but I’m still super obsessed like I can have thoughts 24/7 every second of the day and not leave me alone. I have experienced a thought right now for a month + . It’s a thought to do compulsion/urge. My therapist says to let go and gives me tips how to she also tell me to do more erp. But I have this thought to do compulsion for more then month. Im scared what if I don’t have ocd the thought is 24/7. Do you think I should switch meds im so tired.
