I’m working on realizing that no matter what happened I can’t change it. There’s no way to go back. We can only get better and heal from the last

Not only that what happened can't be changed but it shouldn't even matter because it was years ago, for the most part for me. Like, my OCD takes something that happened to me years ago and tries to judge it towards my present self when I don't do anything that I worry about NOW. When I say it like that I feel like it neutralizes the worry but that's probably a compulsion.

@BigGip09 Is it bad if we keep telling ourselves these kind of things because I feel like it could help in some way.

@BigGip09 Yes it is bad to keep telling yourself these things . But yes you just repeated what I said ! Nothing can be changed unfortunately so we have to move on

@Justmesadly Moving on wouldn't be so bad if I just didn't ruminate over it. But I always forget that's a compulsion in of itself. So how do you resist something that just seems soooo normal in your head? Everyday it's ruminaton and intrusive thoughts 24/7.

@BigGip09 You do other things (I’ve told you this many times), to try and allow your brain to do other things that sit and ruminate all day

@BigGip09 The intrusive thoughts are always gonna be there. That’s part of being humans. But the more you do erp the less they bother you

@Justmesadly I feel like we've told each other the same things but yeah. I do ERP but I don't ever feel like it does anything.

@BigGip09 If you’re doing erp but you’re allowing yourself to do compulsions all day then you’re practically erasing all the work you did

@Justmesadly Then I guess I'm not doing enough ERP to outweigh the compulsions. Only thing is, I don't really know how to do ERP on my own. And the only compulsion I do that doesn't feel automatic is googling. I feel like if I did no compulsions either, then I'd be recovering. Slowly, but surely

@BigGip09 No, you have to make the choice to stop doing the compulsions while also doing erp. All of the things work together. There are lots of videos on erp. Lots of us are doing erp on our own. I haven’t done any erp in my therapy it’s all done on my own. You use the app and it tells you what to do or if you have a theme that’s not on the app then you can still come up with your own based on the information that they provide as well as hundreds of erp videos on YouTube

@Justmesadly I'll give it a shot then. Hopefully ERP will then neutralize all of these compulsions because that's what I'm mainly hoping for. I go through pure OCD, POCD, sexual, harm, and perfectionism. So if I could just stop ruminating about stuff that happened 1-6 years ago by now, I'd be way way happier. If that's guaranteed, then I'm on board. Do you have any links in mind for sharing? It's fine if you don't.

@BigGip09 Erp doesn’t fix compulsions, you fix the compulsions. Erp makes you not as anxious, only if you don’t do the compulsion

@BigGip09 I don’t sorry. You can just go on the nocd page or their YouTube! Great source

@Justmesadly So what's it going to do? Not make me anxious anymore? At least not anxious towards my compulsions or strengthens my ability to resist compulsions better? And I'll check out their channel!

@BigGip09 No you aren’t anxious about compulsions... you’re anxious about your theme. That’s what erp is for. Do some research on erp on their page
