Just be aware that not all medications are going to be the right fit and if it happens to not work, you can always switch!

I had one that made EVERYTHING worse and I initially tried to wait it out but I couldn’t do it so I talked to my doctor and she switched my meds to one that helped me SO MUCH

I’ve genuinely just made an appointment tonight to meet with my doc- I’ve had the same problem. I honestly thought I’d just somehow been missing doses for a while!

@EmWest Same here! I went up to 250 and it’s still not helping, I’m not missing any doses

@Kaitlyn I’ve been on Zoloft for like almost 3 months 50mg and I don’t think I’ve even seen a difference

@Bryce I would talk to your doctor/ phsychiatrist about maybe going up. If that doesn’t work then you should probably switch

@Kaitlyn Yeah I prob will soon, I just hate waiting for months to see if it’s gonna work

@Bryce Usually OCD takes higher doses to be effective: it’s a bummer to have to wait so long to go up in dosages (I started taking it for GAD, so going up to 150 wasn’t a big deal), but it’s better to make sure you don’t have side effects that make it not worth it, I would def let your doctor know now though, after 3 months I’d hope you’d be mostly adjusted and can up the dose! God Bless!

My mom takes Prozac so I started on it because I figured what works for her would probably work for me. It helped so much w the intrusive thoughts and the only side effects I had were super vivid dreams. You have nothing to lose, so if one medication doesn’t work for you you can always switch!! They do have genetic testing as well where they can figure out what med would best help you but I know that can be expensive

Thanks guys my main fear is them making me suicidal or making my intrusive thoughts worse which I can’t imagine them getting any worse than they already are :/

Of course you are aware that’s always a possibility- however unlikely. It is super important to keep in contact w your doctor about it, and if you have any feeling of wanting to harm yourself or others to let someone know. Personally, I went through three diff medications to get to the one that worked for me! (Zoloft) and fortunately any side effects I had from the others were mild and more an annoyance than anything. Just know it can take some time to really build up, and if it doesn’t work, there ar either options! Given how it’s gone for your fam though I would be surprised if you had an adverse reaction to it! God Bless!

@EmWest Thanks, I have self harm OCD which is super scary and has had me terrified to take meds cause I’m already having these unwanted suicide thoughts and I guess I’m just scared I won’t be able to tell the difference if the meds make me suicidal for real :( I feel so stuck
