Lol this is funny! I understand this too well. I had to get my wisdom teeth removed and I was pretty messed up from anesthesia but didnt say anything too crazy. Honestly it kept my instrusice thoughts at bay and all I could think about was how high I was 😂

I’m so scared of it lol. I feel like it’s probably a very similar feeling to being drunk or stoned. Both of which scare the heck out of me now, but I used to get hammered and not tell anyone any of my thoughts. And I remember one time I was so stoned that my intrusive thoughts were SO bad and I focused for like 3 hours straight on “Don’t say these out loud. Don’t tell anyone.” 😂😂

Agreed, you’re not completely blacked out, you still have a sense of self control

I’m currently struggling with this. I just had a dentist appointment and I have to get my wisdom teeth out in a month and I’m afraid I’ll tell people my intrusive thoughts

It’s awful. I was supposed to get mine out a couple years ago but I never went to the appointment. Now they’re pushing the teeth in front of them and making my gums super swollen and painful and my dentist told me I need to get them out ASAP but I’m terrified of the crazy things I’ll say afterwards. I hope it goes well for you. Are you currently doing therapy?

@Ald21 I know, it causes me a lot of distress. Mine are pushing on my teeth in front of them too. I remember my dad telling me that he never had to get his out so I just assumed I wouldn’t either lol, but that’s not the case. My sister told me that you’re still self aware and lucid afterwards, you just feel a little loopy. I hope it goes well for you, too. I am currently in therapy and taking medication which helps. My motto is “it’s not how I feel, it’s how I choose” and my goal is to make healthy value-based choices. We can’t let OCD get in the way of our health, no matter how real and distressing it feels.

@0823 I’m sorry that you’re also trying to navigate it. But take your own advice! Remember to always out your health first. Best of luck to you 😊

I was TERRIFIED that I would just tell everyone about my thoughts after I had my wisdom teeth removed. But I remember when I woke up I was still worrying over my thoughts and was conscious enough to know I didn’t want to share them out loud

I think that’s similar to how it feels to be high or drunk. You’re still aware of them but also still conscious enough to know not to tell anyone

Like under anesthesia? I’ve been under twice and didn’t say anything weird. Though for some reason I didn’t want to open my left eye for my first oral surgery, so the doctor nicknamed me pirate 🤣

I’ve been under a couple times for actual surgeries but you don’t wake up high after a regular surgery. The laughing gas you get during oral surgeries though, they scare me so much. I’m so scared to say something crazy. I wish being nicknamed a pirate was the worst thing that could happen 😂

@Ald21 I know certain people in the government and military can’t go under anesthesia due to them MAYBE saying something classified, but I think you’re good... Unless you work for the government or military. Then no anesthesia for you 👀
