I find that it is hard to work and be fully present because my OCD takes over my brain a lot. But I will say, itβs great practice when it comes to changing the negative habits and compulsions when you have a job and a task(s) you have to do!
Depends on the day, and which job over the years. Currently I'm having some struggles because I'm having difficulty doing certain parts of my job. If I don't work, I tend to be in my head a lot more and stay in bed most of the day.
I am not sure what to do. I'm 20 and i havent had a job yet. I have been in college and I am trying to decide if i should get one for the summer. I am really scared but I feel like I have to idk. My parents are paying for most of my stuff right now and that makes me feel bad. I'm just stressed lol. Can't decide
If you're not taking classes in the summer I would suggest trying to get the work experience, as long as you feel you can handle it. I would only work during the school year if it can be balanced with your schoolwork. I didn't have a real job (aside from one summer as a counselor in training and a volunteer job in HS) until after college. The only reason I would suggest doing so is because it will probably make it easier later on to get a better job later. You want to develop leadership/workplace skills and summer is probably the best time to do it. Internships would be a good option to if you know what you want to ultimately do after college.
@anonymous 88888888 Thank you! I'm so nervous about it. I don't know how to go about it. Like is it okay to call to see if places are hiring? Or should I go in person? It all scares me so much!!
@Anyonomous Either check the company website, call, or ask on location what the company procedure is. Different companies have different procedures. I use LinkedIn, but if you are just looking for a summer job, I'm not sure how useful the job boards would be.
@Matthew Thank you so much, those who replied. And yes, Matthew, I'm in college. I will be entering my third year but I have enough credits to maybe graduate a year early and its freaking me out!! I agree. I feel bad for my parents paying for things so I would like to work I am just scared because of my OCD and social anxiety :/
