Keep sitting through your compulsions! I lose sleep over this too but have been sitting through them and it’s starting to get a little better. It’s terrifying and uncomfortable but it is worth it

This may sound like a weird suggestion but reading Agatha Christie before bed really helps. Her books are interesting but not intense.

@daphne he/they <3 She's the author. She has written a number of books and she's listed under Mystery in book stores. Indigo carries a lot of her novels and some are available for audio.

Leave your phone inside and lay outside. Like I’ve literally brought a blanket outside multiples times where I wasn’t sleeping at all bc fresh air helps you fall asleep and clear your mind

Just a suggestion. Feels like camping. But if you don’t have a backyard or something then maybe just open a window. A warm drink helps me feel less anxious too

Thank you so much for helping, I will get a warm drink and I’m not allowed to sleep outside, but maybe I’ll open my window and sleep on the floor with a sleeping bag?

I hate the feeling of being up all night until you see day and then you have to go on with your day after no sleep. It’s just the worst

@daphne he/they <3 I literally been doing cumpulsions for the past 2 1/2 hours smh. It got me at night time. But i have to sleep in order to at least have some type of mental strength tommorow morning i even went out for a short walk rn up the block and back but it didnt help much...

@HiOcd Yeah, I need to sleep so I don’t collapse tomorrow as well but I just can’t. You know that feeling when you’re exhausted but your body won’t let you sleep?

@daphne he/they <3 Felt it all too many times... Like for me my bidy is tired but my mind is like hey ready for some compulsions??? Lol freaking jerk ocd mind.. its like it knows when to get me best.

@daphne he/they <3 Hmmm. Have you talked to your doctor about not being able to sleep? I know turning off my phone and reading a book helps me. Also there are some great supplements like magnesium, valerian and kava kava that help with sleep. I think it may be an issue of treating the ocd so that you can choose how you respond to OCD; instead of it kind of kicking your butt all the time. Also maybe your doctor would want to change your meds.

@JessicaJoy I take kava tea, I have a feeling I was really nervous last night and it kept me up but I eventually fell asleep at 6 am

Breathe in four, hold for seven, exhale eight. Repeat for 10 times until you feel a little relaxation. Maybe try some CBD or make a cup of tea. Worst thing you can do is stay in bed when you’re tired so do something different like read a really boring book or drink some tea while watching your favorite tv show. (I prefer the office).

This is a repost, only because the last post had no responses lol. Please if you have any advice share. I’ve been trying hard to sit with the feeling of anxiety. Actually that’s the problem, recently I’ve been trying to sit with the thought (and I’m able to for a few hours or until the next morning) and then my anxiety comes back so strong and it’s like I need to clean everything off. I see images of gross laundry getting on everything or my hand and then I need to clean everything off to un contaminate it. Sometimes the thought happens later at night so I just sleep through and the next morning I will wake up with intense anxiety about contamination. That happened yesterday and I had to clean everything off and since then I’ve been traumatized so I’ve been doing compulsions like avoiding the bathroom and being around people so I know I couldn’t have done anything wrong. Actually recently my biggest compulsion has been recording every time I get up to go eat, etc so that I know I couldn’t have done anything. Any advice or help???

I feel like it’s just me. But at night when I start to fall asleep, play on my phone, or watch TV; I’ll get major intrusive thoughts and a butt load of anxiety. Has anyone felt the same about this? How have you managed it? It’s getting exhausting and even causes me to sleep-less.

Ive been struggling with the fear that if i am suicidal or something and ive been having like fears or intrusive thoughts of jumping off or losing control and acting on these thoughts and i dont know if this is just some very bad case of anxiety? Im always thinking about it trying to prove it wrong in my head and its gotten to a point where its effecting my sleep, i use chat gpt. I know deep down i dont wanna do any of it, i mean the very thought makes me panic quick so idk i just want to forget all these thoughts and i was wondering if anyone goes through this as well?
