Hey, i pick my skin a lot. Its obsessive, but how does this story relate to the title and what you said about actual desires?

I guess I just have a hard time in the moment figuring out that my picking isn't a desire in most cases, like I see a big pimple and wanna pop it so it doesn't look bad is a desire, picking at a spot that's barely even a problem is not. But in those moments I can never seem to remind myself. I just wondered if people end up convincing themselves in hard compulsive moments that what their compulsion is is an active choice and not an actual compulsion. It's so hard to explain what im asking sorry

I just really find that I've been convincing myself in those moments that I want to keep going not that I feel like I have to and I'm trying to figure out how to stop that

@Poppy Kitty I have had this too. Most of the times its just easier to tell yourself: I Dont Know. but sometimes i can tell them apart just fine.

@jorgem1AO Thats a fair point. Accepting that it's uncertain leaves room for me to really think about it. That might be simple enough for me to remember in the moment I'll try it thanks.
