Y’all I think I thought of a good idea to resist compulsions so instead of doing a compulsion do something to replace it. When I have an urge to seek reassurance on the internet I’ll be like “nope, I’ll read a book instead”

Yeah I think this is good too. The thought and urge can be there, but “helpful distraction” can allow you to move on.
