SSRIs (Prozac) helped me with my repeating thoughts to some extent, but that in combination with ERP and tracking bans to create awareness was most effective for me. Anxiety medication tends to make my ocd worse

I’ve done well with Prozac and Zoloft- you need to be willing to do whatever it takes to sit through compulsions because your life is worth it. Have you tried listening to ocd stories podcast?

That's the thing. I'm not motivated at all to do ERP therapy and that's why (in my opinion) I cannot resist compulsions.

I was way more motivated in the past but I just gave up now and feel defeated

@Anonymous It’s not about motivation. You have to force yourself to do it because you want your life back. Motivation might come later. I never want to do ERP but I do it anyway

@Anonymous That's what I meant when saying motivation: wanting my life back. At this time, I don't really feel the strong need to get my life back.

@Anonymous Are you comfortable living a life where OCD is your master? Is that ok with you? Do you want more for yourself?

I understand that everyone is different but lately I have been debating on medication just because of past experiences but does anyone have any good experiences with medication that has helped them with their OCD as well as therapy or treatment? As of now I’m dealing with it by myself but it feels like it may be getting worse

Has anyone had success treating their OCD without medication and solely ERP or non-medicinal methods. I have pretty severe OCD and just about every sub-type, but I’ve been on various meds (SSRI & SNRIs) for going on 8 years and have never found one that truly relieves me of symptoms. I’m looking to see if it’s worth continuing with the side effects I experience (mostly mild) or if there are alternatives that could work for me. Low key tired of constantly changing meds in an attempt to find something that works when maybe medicine isn’t the route for me…

Can people please share their experiences on very low dose medications for their OCD? Maybe ones that have worked well with little side effects? Anything is helpful & thank you
