Deductible is the amount you pay before your insurance starts paying for your treatment. Let’s say you have a deductible of $1000. That means you have to pay the first $1000 of your treatment, and after that, your insurance starts paying for all or most of your treatment. So you wouldn’t be “using up” your family’s deductible; if anything, you’re doing them a favor by getting them closer to not having to pay full price for care they need!
