you don’t have to do it only once!! with pure ocd you can do it everytime you get a thought. sarcasticallt agreeing/mocking the thoughts is erp!! everytime you get a worry/ thought try to sarcastically agree and slowly it will seem less real and less scary to you because you’ll take the thoughts less seriously and see them as silly. glad to see you trying to get better!

I prefer to do it later in the day if I’m doing it with my therapist. This is because sometimes the exposures are a little intense for me, and this way if I have to deal with feeling any anxiety I do it then. But I also like doing it as the first thing some days as a way to get it over with.

Each night I go to bed determined to stop compulsions and start beating this disorder. Then I wake up and it smacks me in the face first thing and I’m doing a compulsion before I know it. I told my therapist that I would try to handle it like we do in session, but I’ve already failed. It seems like I can’t bring ERP into my “real” life.

I'm just laying here avoiding being an adult and wondering if during ERP the therapists are mean. Like, is it a "tough love" type of situation? That makes me anxious

Anyone have any tips on not making ERP a compulsion? I find myself sometimes wanting to do exposures in order to make myself feel better (feel my anxiety go down and feel relief). 😅
