Yeah... 8 or 9 years ago I chose a therapist specifically because that was her main gig 🤔 A lot of people seem to be disappointed when it's not a magic bullet for everything, but I think it's helpful for trauma work and situations where you want to "reprogram" your brain a bit 👩🏽💻

EMDR is basically exposure therapy, according to dismantling studies, so it’s essentially more imaginal exposure with other fancy (ineffective) bits thrown in. If you’re looking for trauma therapy specifically I would suggest one the APA recommends, like cognitive processing therapy or prolonged exposure.
