How long will it for it to take effect
It depends. For some people it could make you feel better almost instantly. For others it might take a little more time. But it will get easier every time you do it!
No matter how bad they are?
Absolutely! Even if they’re the worst of the worst you can always shrug them off and soon they won’t mean a thing!
@BlueMountain Ok thank you. It just worries me because they can be so graphic sometimes and it makes me think I’m the only one having them and makes it that much harder to shrug off
@Just Breathe ❤️ I know exactly how you feel. But even though it will feel like you’re the only one, I guarantee you that you aren’t and that there are thousands of people going through the same! It’ll be hard to shrug them off at first, but practice will make perfect!
@BlueMountain Thank you!
@Just Breathe ❤️ Of course! I’m glad I could give you some comfort!
What if i am scared that they can come true?
It’s ok to be scarred. But once you start to accept that they’re just thoughts, even if they are scary, you’ll know they can’t hurt you and you’ll start to feel a whole lot better!
I must say that its easy said than done
It definitely is. But as soon as you start doing it for a while the anxiety starts to just melt away. It’s important to make yourself feel as comfortable as possible.
"Oh, brain... you so weird sometimes" 🚮 😁
I try this whenever I’m having intrusive thoughts and it really does help! It doesn’t always work BUT it does relieve a lot of tension during negative times. Thanks for sharing!🥰
You’re welcome! And that’s awesome! It helps me a lot as well and I think is a good practice to utilize!
Sometimes i find myself crying and wanting to vomit because my brain cannot stop thinking about that thought. Is it still normal? Its so hard to resist compulsions
That is very normal for people with ocd. I know it’s hard to resist, but you have to find some way to release the tension it brings. You can try some methods like meditation, listening to music, or just taking some deep breathing. Personally, I have a candle that I like to smell when I get stressed out to help relieve my tension.
Thank you so much! I am glad that there are people whom i can talk about this illness
Of course! Remember that you are never alone! Literally everyone on this app knows what you’re going through and are going through the exact same thing! And everyone here is 100% treatable! Stay strong!
