Wow so happy to hear you are getting some time away from the thoughts, that is so wonderful. This is totally normal, and like what we all hope for.

OK, this might sound really dumb, but when you guys get intrusive thoughts, do they just come once and then go away? Iâve heard that repeatedly thinking about an intrusive thought is considered âchecking,â but it doesnât feel like I have any control over how many times it comes up in my head. Itâs not like Iâm trying to check anythingâit just keeps showing up, almost like itâs terrorizing me every time. I canât seem to stop it from looping, stop remembering it, or prevent it from coming up. Every time it does, I feel horrified, and I already know itâs going to horrify me. I donât think Iâm actively trying to see if my feelings have changed, so is this still considered checking? How do other people get an intrusive thought and just move on? Doesnât it pop up a million times for them too? I always thought that was normal, but now Iâm hearing this could be a compulsion, and I feel really confused, scared, and lost. Is this why my OCD feels so extreme? Because I really donât feel like I can control how many times the thought pops up.

Iâve been thinking a lot about how OCD changes the way we see ourselves, but I recently realized that I am not my thoughts. Just because a thought pops up doesnât mean itâs true or that it defines me. Iâve started learning how to see OCD for what it isâjust a disorder trying to trick meâand Iâve become stronger in dealing with it. Has anyone else here had a similar realization? How do you handle these thoughts when they show up?

Does anyone else ever feel like they donât feel âbad enoughâ to have OCD, or that they donât feel âthe right wayâ for it? Or like theyâre just saying they have OCD as an excuse? Because i was so much better for like 3 weeks now and now im on my period and i started doubting again. So because of that im scared that i was feeling to good and that my fear is actually true.
