It's alright - I understand where you're coming from. You did something for your mother...something that required a lot of emotional effort...and it seemed like she didn't appreciate it. Your feelings are valid; however, it may be worth trying to understand where your mom was coming from as well. Speaking as someone who has quite the guilty conscience, it seems possible to me that she felt bad about you taking responsibility for her mistake, and wanted to come clean to her sister (or sister-in-law). So she may have acted out of guilt for her own actions rather than disregard for yours.
